"Shadow 1-3 copies."  The MH-60 flared for a landing next to the SEALs and the MEDEVAC vehicle.

    **********************************SF MISSION 9 END**********************************
Debrief: Excellent work, the airfield is now ours and the 101st is moving in heavier forces to assist the Marines landing nearby. We've also eliminated one base for the Kedhanis to stage fighters out of. For his actions, Axt will be buried with full honors. He will be sorely missed.

SF Mission 10: Save the Whales
    March 29, 2018 (UN HQ Time: 2245)
    AO: Northern Persian Sea

We have a situation developing. Despite a very vigorous campaign against the development of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs) by both Shamlak and Kedhan, agents in Shamlak recently learned of a plot by both countries to use examples of chemical weapons developed in their countries against Isara. No demands have been made, so we must assume they have none. It is our belief they again want to persuade Isara to withdraw its support of our forces and slow the attacks against them by bringing about the idea of chemical warfare. Thanks to our agents, we’ve managed to pinpoint the two tankers, The Tower’s Star and The Persian Bandit. A joint Usean-Emmerian team will take care of the Bandit; we get the Star. The agent itself is believe to be a strain of an old Estovakian project called “Gold Gas”, which uses aerosolized Urushiol (the itching found in poison ivy) to destroy the lungs. AU, hence the nickname, is a relatively unknown piece of work due to the lack of readily available documents from the Estovakians; take full precautions.
Due to reliable information the tanker has oil in it, which may be released in the event of attack, the approach and attack will be very stealthy. You’ll received support from a CIA UAV, callsign “Puppetmaster”, which will provide as up-to-date intel as you we can get you. Phantom and Triton will make the initial approach via SDVs. Triton will infiltrate on starboard, Phantom on port. Phantom will secure the bridge while Triton sweeps the top deck and sends their marksmen with Phantom. Once the top deck is secure, we’ll deploy Lawman via SOAR helos to sweep the lower decks for the weapons and insert the Estovakians attached to the EOD teams. It is imperative that the vessel be secured and the vessel stopped before we can begin proper bomb disposal. Be ready at any time to defend against the release of the agent. In addition the vessel may have triggermen aboard. Eliminate them to prevent the release of the agent prematurely. It should go without saying you should be ready to defend against them at all times.

    March 29, 2045 (Local Time: 2320)
    Over the Northern Persian Sea

"That her?" the CIA operative, safe at a secure location along the Yuktobanian coast asked.

On the screen, the white image of a single tanker ship pressing through the seas filled up almost the entire image. For an oil tanker, it was odd her deck would have a few cargo boxes on it. It would be easy to suspect they would stash portable AA missiles inside those. The important part was below, under the skin. Somewhere on the five decks under the top were the bombs.

"Yup, OFS Bonner reports they're in a shadowing position, as is OFS Glosten Island. Both are ready to deploy first teams on our command." the UAV operator replayed, quoting a relay from an E-6. The operative, one Mr. Sand, nodded.

"Very good, give em their final orders and maintain patrol pattern until bingo...as if we'd even hit a quarter of that limit." He ordered.

A quickly as could be done, orders were relayed to the two subs to tell the PMCs and SEALs it was time to go. Triton would be deploying from the Glosten while the SEALs were off the Bonner.

Above and well away from the eyes of the tanker, Brad was sitting in one of the SOAR MH-47s waiting for the go. He expected Triton and Phantom to do this one quickly; there were no real places besides that ship to land the helicopters, and ditching was gonna screw everything up well beyond repair. He looked towards the cockpit, then out one of the windows.

"So level with me, Miss Sharky, Mister Reaper; I would hope Rosenthal has effective ship-boarding practice drills?" He asked over the radio, half-seriously. He knew they did such a thing, and even then why wouldn't they? But it was a matter of reassuring himself too, that the blonde and her compatriot would keep their cool as always.

Orbiting in one of the supporting MH-60s over the arbitrary spot of ocean five miles downwind of the tanker that had been designated the holding point, Gale replied, "Well, all but two of the guys in Triton are former SEALs, and we spend an absurd amount of time training with Osean SEALs, and we all but trained the Stovie naval commandos, so I would certainly hope we do."

Reaper agreed, turning back in his seat to look down the companionway at the commander of the Delta team, "Don't you worry your little head, Lawman Actual.  We pirates know our boats.  Or are you getting nervous?"

Meanwhile below the depths of the Persian Sea, the ASDS carrying AFO Triton clunked free of the OFS Glosten and motored off towards the target.  Once they were safely away, the SEAL at the controls radioed over the ship-to-ship channel, "Glosten, Triton is away and secure.

The SEALs SDV separated from the sub.

"Bonner, Phantom is away," radioed Jester. The SDV chugged out into the black depths of the Sea.

"Would it be a bad time for me to say I always hated swimming?" Brad replied with a wry smile.

Both subs gave the teams their acknowledgment and cleared them to board the ship once it had stopped. Aboard the vessel, the CIA drone had observed, the deck was being patrolled by six men in two-person teams, with four additional personnel on the tower where the bridge was to watch the stern of the ship. Of course the bridge had its full crew as well. The snipers were cleared to move in when they saw it fit. In the meantime, the Bonner had an extra torpedo than usual loaded. On command the Mk. 48 had been launched, but it would not be armed. Instead the weapon was guided towards the target ship like a battering ram of sorts. It traveled out silently towards the back end of the Star until it collided with the left screw. On the bridge of the tanker, the man leading the security detachment flinched as the entire ship appeared to shiver.

"What the hell was that?!" He snapped.

"We hit something. Bring us to a full stop and prepare a damage inspection team!" The ship's captain replied, then turning his attention to the pilot. The young man nodded and began to slow the vessel.

"Sir, it's the screws! They appear to have been hit!" He relayed to his commander.

"Very well, shut down the engine...we may have to drop anchor if we can." the Captain nodded.

"We have a scheduele to keep." the military type reminded him.

"Not if we can't move at all, my friend." the Captain scoffed.

"Welp, looks like that crazy plan worked." Teiji dryly observed from his helo.

As the tanker ground to a halt, the driver of the ASDS called back to Triton, "Hey guys, looks like the target's stopped.  Get ready."

Genghis nodded, "Got it."  As the ASDS pulled beneath the stricken tanker, the PMCs finished checking their gear before donning their rebreathers.  Tapping the SEAL at the controls on the shoulder, Genghis said, "Alright, we're good to go."

"Okay, start cycling through the lockout trunk when you're ready."

"Got it.  Thanks for the ride, gents."

    "Anytime, Genghis.  Give 'em hell."

"Always."  Exchanging a brotherly fist bump, Genghis nodded to the rest of the team to cycle through the lockout trunk.  Preacher and Dingo went first, followed by Odin and Tick, then Zeus and Voodoo, and finally Dusty and Genghis.  When they were safely out of the mini-sub, Genghis banged on the hatch three times with his dive knife and the ASDS slowly sank back into the depths.

When the sub was gone, the members of Triton completed their swim up to the tanker, taking positions along the starboard side of the hull.  Preacher poked his head above water first, checking to make sure there were no sentries looking over the side of the ship.  When he was sure it was clear, he gestured to Voodoo, who swam up with the entry tool:  a long rope ladder attached to a painter's pole.  The big M60 gunner extended the pole, silently attaching the ladder to the ship's side.  After tugging on it experimentally to make sure it was secure, he flashed Preacher a thumbs-up.

The point man nodded and slowly began his climb, peeking over the side of the ship before climbing onto the deck.  After making a quick sweep to ensure the insertion point was clear, Preacher clicked his microphone twice, signaling the rest of the team that it was safe to board.

Within a few minutes the rest of Triton had finished boarding.  They removed their swim equipment, stashing it in a dark corner and donning bump helmets and gas masks.  "Puppetmaster, Triton is aboard."

Meanwhile, aboard the MH-47 carrying the assault team and the Estovakian EOD specialists, Reaper chuckled, "Don't let Voodoo hear you say that, Brad."

Jester grinned as he heard the cargo liner grind to a halt.

Tapping the SDV driver, he said, "We're ready, see ya bro."

"Roger that, have a good one." The SEALs did a final check of their gear, the slid silently from the small submersible. Popping his head out, Jester checked that the deck was clear of guards. After confirming, he motioned for Atlas to bring up their own boarding ladder. Attaching it much like the PMC operators, Jester was the first on up. pausing briefly right below the railing, he peeked over, then climb onto the deck. Clearing his SCAR of any water, he cleared his left and right, then transmitted his own clicks. The rest boarded, and with a pair providing security, switched out of their dive gear, putting on their gas masks along with their EXFILs.

"Puppetmaster, Phantom 1-1 is on deck." transmitted Jester.

"Puppemaster copies all. Be advised, you have multiple patrols circling the deck. They were disoriented by the sudden stop but looks like they're trying to reorganize and keep up the patrol." Mr. Sand radioed. He watched the Shamlakis as they walked.

"Phantom, patrol to your left...Triton you've got one to your right. Two men each; you're weapons free. Stalker, you're cleared to move sharpshooters into position at your discretion to prep the bridge for Triton." He added.

The soft sound of boots meeting metal approached both teams as the patrols closed in, unaware. Each man was armed with only an assault rifle, an AUG A3. On the bridge, the crew was too busy monitoring the engine/screw situation to note the men that'd just boarded despite a very good view of the top deck before them.

"Hopefully he's more concerned with the ship right now than other things." Brad replied.

Genghis replied with two clicks of his microphone.  He silently gestured to Preacher and Voodoo to deal with the approaching patrol.

With a nod, the two of them stalked off to engage the two men.  Hiding in the shadows, Preacher and Voodoo waited for the two to pass before stepping out behind them.  Creeping up behind the patrol, the rubber soles of their boots hardly making any noise on the steel deck, Preacher drew his knife while Voodoo unsheathed his tomahawk.

When they were close enough, Preacher counted down from three.  As the last finger came down, he and Voodoo leaped on the two men, Preacher clamping a hand over his man's mouth and driving his knife through his neck while Voodoo did the same with his target.

Easing the two dead men down to the deck, Preacher and Voodoo dragged their bodies to a dark corner, hiding them under some piping.  Preacher radioed, "Boss, they're done.  Coming back to you."

"Roger that.  Puppetmaster, Triton moving to the bridge."

Phantom melted into the shadows. Jester removed his kukri knife, and Titan pulled out his Nighthawk blade. As they passe, the two SEALs stepped out just behind them, and grabbed the men. Jester slashed the first man's vocal cords and then his jugular. Titan plunged his blade into the others neck. Letting them fall gentle, the pair dragged the men under a set of pipes.

"Phantom 1-1, tangos down, moving to objective." radioed Jester.

"Roger that...Triton be advised we have two tangos on either side of the ship's superstructure. One guy at the top near the bridge entrances and one at the bottom of the stairs. Phantom, we cannot gauge who may be down in the mechanical spaces; use caution. They've most likely sent a team to investigate belowdeck, so you may run into em." Sand relayed.

On the bridge, one of the younger sailors manning the space thought he spotted something. He craned his neck to try and spot it, but in the space his eyes weren't well adjusted to the dark. In the meantime a team of ship crew, escorted by four Shamlaki troopers, had gone to help in the engine area.

    "Odin, Dusty, you're up."

Odin and Dusty nodded, unslinging their SR-25s while the rest of the team made their way forward, being careful to stay out of the light.  Setting up on a convenient pipe, they each sighted in on one of the sentries on the starboard side, Dusty taking the lower one while Odin took the higher one.  Dusty said without taking his eye off the scope, "Ready, boss."

    "Fire at will."

    "On my mark.  3...  2... 1... Mark."

The two SR-25s coughed in unison, sending a 7.62mm round speeding towards each sentry.

Both men fell, unaware of the UN-backed operators crawling around their ship. However the second one did make some noise as his weapon clattered against the metal. The commander of the Shamlakis' security turned his head towards the noise and un-holstered his weapon, a USP.

"Fahreed! check that sound!" He barked. His lieutenant, armed with a TMP, nodded and walked towards the door.

The SEALs followed the team down into the mechanical spaces. Pausing before fully descending the stairs, Jester had threw a can of CS gas into the room. A small whoomp, and a hiss were heard, and Phantom scrambled down the stairs, guns up, ready to kill. They began clearing the smoky room, any Shamalki found was dispatched with a pistol round to the head.

Dusty saw Fahreed walking to the door and radioed to Genghis, who by now had climbed almost to the top of the stairs, "Boss, you got company.  One bad guy, SMG."

Genghis whispered, "Got it.  Take him.  We'll clean up."

"Copy."  Dusty waited for Fahreed to close the door behind him before firing.  At the same time, Preacher moved up to the top of the stairs, ready to grab the man's body as he fell.

The group the SEALs ambushed were pulling out their masks and securing themselves. They seemed to have thought the weapon had accidentally been set off as they began to check each other. One noted the SEALs coming down in the shadows and turned to him with a SPAS, shouting in Shamlaki as he sent the first slug too high.

In the meantime the captain flinched as he saw Fahreed's body fall limp. He shouted at a sailor to close the door while he covered it with his own weapon.

As the captain's shout of alarm rang out, Genghis swore, "Shit!  Preacher, hit it!"

Without missing a beat, Preacher tossed a 9-banger into the bridge before the sailor could close the door, waiting for the detonation before storming in, followed by the rest of the team.  He quickly put a round through the crewman walking toward the door while yelling in Shamlaki for everyone to drop their weapons.

Jester smoothly put the reticle of his T-1 on the chest of the shotgun-wielding soldier and squeezed the trigger twice, sending two 168 grain 7.62x51 bullets into the mans' chest. He kept his weapon up as he descended, engaging targets while moving. The other SEALs followed him as they rushed into the room. Anyone wielding a weapon was shot in a similar fashion as Phantom assaulted the room.

On both levels resistance was light thanks to the use of nonlethal substances to subdue the threats coupled with speed and surprise. In the surprise shots from the Kedhanis went wild as they were disoriented before they could react. Those who were unarmed also scrambled about, less concerned with following any orders and more concerned with their own safety.

Preacher and Dingo completed their sweep of the bridge before joining Voodoo and Tick in restraining the bridge crew.

Genghis radioed, "Dusty, Odin, bridge is secure.  Collapse on us."

"Check."  The two marksmen packed up their rifles, quickly and quietly making their way to the bridge.  At Genghis' order, they climbed up to the roof of the superstructure, setting up to cover the length of the ship.

Meanwhile Genghis said to Preacher, "Find out what they know."

As Preacher began interrogating the captain and chief of security about the whereabouts of the weapon, Zeus radioed, "Puppetmaster, Puppetmaster, Triton.  Bridge is secure, over."

The team made sure the hostiles were down, dispatching one or two with a mercy shot. Jester grabbed the nearest mechanic and threw him to the floor and zip cuffed his hands. The others were captured too, and similarly laid on the floor, face down, hand cuffed behind their back. After swiftly searching the men's pockets, Jester hopped on the net.

"Puppetmaster, engine room team is down, four pax wrapped. moving to the objective, out."

Returning up the stairs, the SEALs cautiously made their way to the bridge.

"Roger that, all teams be on the lookout for triggermen. We're bringing in the assault team. Stalker you are go." Sand radioed.

In the meantime the captain gave little information other than where they'd been ordered to go. The head of security was just being silent to spite the PMCs.

"About damn time." Brad mumbled to himself as he waited in the helo.

"Okay Miss Sharky, Mr. Reaper, ready whenever you are." He then spoke up on the radio.

The officer looked back. The Estovakian specialists were in heavy protection suits and trembling. None of them had anything more than basic training on dealing with hostile situations, and none of those situations had been like this. He lowered his own mask and made sure it was secure. Crusher would lead the scientists after the first six Deltas were on deck. Teiji would be the only one not joining them, hanging out on a helo to snipe.

Okay, no more thinking he thought as the ship approached. Time to act and react.

As the MH-47 turned towards the ship, Reaper called out, "2 minutes!"

The crew chief replied, "Roger, 2 minutes."  The man gestured to the men seated in the cabin and began checking their gear.

The Chinook pulled alongside the ship.  "1 minute!"

"Roger, 1 minute!" The ropers performed final checks of the gear, the crew chief helping the Estovakian technicians.

As Reaper settled in position over the deck, he called out, "Deploy ropes."

"Roger, deploy ropes."  The two ramp crewmen kicked the big green coils of rope off the ramp, watching as they fell to the deck.  After making sure the ropes were unfouled, they called, "Ropes on the deck!"

The crew chief directed the men into position, lining them up in two single file lines behind the ropes hanging from the rear of the Chinook.  Taking position between them, he tapped the first two men forward, directing them to grab the ropes.  Once they had them, he called, "Go!"

On his signal the first two ropers made their way out the door, followed seconds later by the next pair, and so on until all eleven men were on the deck.  Once they were clear, the crew chief called, "Last man on deck!"  The two ramp crewmen then began pulling the rope back in.  "Rope being pulled in to 6 o' clock...  Rope is in.  You're clear."

"Copy."  Once the ropes were in, Reaper pulled away from the ship, returning to the orbit pattern while the crew prepped for extraction.
