Brad kept his position until the helos were out of the way and back in relative safety. He gave the order to get the Stovies to a secure, defensible place. The obvious choice was the bridge with Triton.

"Triton, Lawman, we're gonna escort the techs to you and move to find the device. Maintain position." He radioed, swiftly moving across the deck.

The Shamlaki gunmen aboard the ship no longer had any set space they controlled. Now it was a matter of how they could maneuver individually or in groups of two to three against the UN attackers. Brad spread his team out on the flanks of the scientists while Teiji provided overall cover from the helo. He spotted a lone gunman trying to sneak up onto the top deck.

"Lawman, got a hostile coming at you guys. Your seven." He noted before engaging.

"Nice shooting, Oates." Brad replied as the sniper watched his kill go down.

Brad deployed part of his team at the bottom of the stairs while the others escorted the techs up into the custody of Triton. As Crusher arrived on the bridge, he saw the PMCs were in the process of "talking" to two of the men aboard.

"Any progress yet?" the Staff Sergeant asked.

Genghis shook his head as Preacher asked Voodoo to join in on the interrogations.  "Nope.  They're shut tight."  Looking over the Estovakians, he asked, "These our eggheads?"

"Yeah, these be them. Where are our friends the SEALs? They'd like to diffuse the weapons as soon as we can get em to them." Brad said, glancing at the ship captain and head of .

"Crusher, work your magic." He added. The Staff Sergeant nodded and approached the soldier.

"The bombs, where are they?" He started in Persian, keeping it simple at first. As he expected, he got no response.

    Crusher frowned, but was undeterred.

"The International War Crimes Tribunal doesn't like users of chemical weapons, buddy." He frowned.

Still nothing. Crusher stuck out his right thumb an began to poke the man's abdomen.

"Talk." He demanded simply. The move, while unconventional, was meant to do no harm. It was instead supposed to make the man very uncomfortable. the security head squirmed and grunted at the alien sensation the pokes sent into him, but he resisted.

"Burn in hell, Yankees. Arrogant degenerates." the man spat in horrid Osean. Crusher looked at the ship's captain.

"That usually works...Who's this guy?" Crusher asked aloud.

Hoping on the radio, Jester said, "Lawman, Phantom, minor confusion, moving to engine room now."

The team plunged further into the dark, dank bowels of the ship.

"Man this place gives me the creeps," muttered one of the SEALs. Everything was bathed in a dim light, which provided barely enough luminescence for their NVGs. The team made sure to place IR chemlights, tucked out of sight, to mark the way. Every little space was cleared, until the team got close to the objective.

"SEALs are dickin' around in the machinery spaces.  This dude's the ship captain."

As Genghis gestured to the man, Voodoo walked over and squatted down in front of the captain.  "So where's the device?  And don't give me the bullshit that you don't know."

The captain looked at the head of security, then sighed. He was dead either way...

"I don't know the exact location. They wouldn't tell me and I was restricted from overseeing the loading. My guess would be the containers they have on the deck; it would allow the weapon to be released most effectively. It is a chemical weapon, after all."

He softly cured them in his native tongue for sealing his fate. The look on the head of security's face told Brad all he needed to know.

"Makes sense...I say we try it. I'll have my team sweep the top deck. The SEALs can keep looking below in case this guy's an eloquent liar." He outlined. He got on the radio.

"Phantom, Lawman. Contiue sweep below the top deck; we'll sweep topside. We might have a good 20 on the device. All Lawman victors, split into threes and search."

"Roger, Phantom is continuing the search." said Jester. They slid through the tight spaces of the machinery rooms. Coming to a closed metal door, Jester signaled the pointman to lay a thermite breaching charge on door. He then radioed,

"Phantom has possible 20 on weapon, stand by." Activating it, it burned a hole in the door which the team the flowed through. Clearing the room, they found yet more machinery.

"Negative, no weapon, Phantom is moving."

Genghis said to Brad, "You guys may want to get moving quick.  Only one team clearing belowdecks is going to take a long time and is a recipe for disaster.  I'll chop four of my guys to you so you can move faster." Beckoning to Dingo, Preacher, Voodoo, and Tick, he said, "Alright guys, go with the D-boys.  Make sure they don't get lost.  Boats are unfamiliar to them, after all."  This last statement was delivered with a slight smile.

Voodoo grinned, "You got it, boss."

    The rest nodded as well.

    "Rog." Brad nodded, following Voodoo.

"Okay Voodoo lend me that ex-SEAL mentality of yours. If you were a dirty bomb and you wanted to be spread effectively from a ship, where would you wanna be?" He asked.

In the meantime Brad's subordinates had split into the called for teams. Not used to ships, they covered best they could by treating the place like a building. scattered resistance was still present in the form of one or two hostiles trying to pop up and shoot, but it was playing out like a game of Time Crisis. Each thraet was knocked out as soon as it appeared. Now the only thing that really mattered was the bomb.

Voodoo mused as he led the way down onto the deck, having slung his M60 in favor of a shortened Remington 870, drawing on his experience training for the counter-WMD mission in his time with DEVGRU to influence his reply.  "Depends.  For transport, stick it up top away from as many people as possible so you don't fuck yourself over if somebody fucks something up.  If you're trying to detonate ON the ship, stick it somewhere central, where you're guaranteed to have it spread, like the air circulation system.  In this case I'd say start near the bow, work our way back."

Preacher added, "We'll want to look for clumps of containers, too."

Voodoo nodded, "Yeah.  That being said, you've also gotta consider the logistics of the damn thing.  Because sure these Ekna shitwads may be the ones running the bomb, but it's the captain's ship, and he's gonna have the final say on where the thing actually got fuckin' loaded."

"Okay then, we should search the topside. This is a tanker after all." Brad proposed. He looked out over the deck as they descended and pointed at a clump of metal shipping containers.

"There we go. Okay we may have the weapon, standby." He said, picking up the pace.

The Lieutenant ran to one of the containers and stopped. With a gulp he carefully pulled open the door and looked inside. Sure enough the bomb, in all its boxy, wire-filled glory was there.

"We've got it. Bring those eggeheads over here." Brad exhaled in relief before specifying where "here" was.

Genghis radioed to Preacher, "Alright, you guys collapse back on us and get those eggheads over there."

"Copy that, boss."  Dingo, Preacher, Voodoo and Tick quickly made their way back to the bridge, where Genghis  explained to the Estovakian techs what was happening.  Arriving at the bridge, Preacher stuck his head in the door and said, "Alright boss, let's move it."

"Aye."  Turning to the Estovakian techs, he issued a quick command in Estovakian, to which the leader of the technicians replied with a nod, gesturing to his men to follow Preacher and company back towards the container.

The Estovakians' head scientist nodded and hailed his comrades, who followed the PMCs towards the bomb.

"Phantom, Lawman here, we have the bomb. We're gonna set up a perimeter until it's disarmed; keep searching, may be more than one triggerman." Brad radioed as he knelt near the open doors.

In the meantime his team made a very careful break from clearing the decks below, allowing Phantom to keep moving on its own. Unbeknowst to them there was still one triggerman, but he was on strict orders not to detonate unless told to. He was located about two doors away from the SEALs.

The next door was unlocked, and Jester opened it a quietly as possible. Clearing the next room, he said,

"Phantom 1-1, roger that, will keep our eyes open." The door after that was locked, and another thermite charge was placed on the door. Clearing the door, the compound burned itself through the door at over 4000 degrees. The team kicked in the loosened section and poured into the room. taking up their positions, one of the SEALs spotted the triggerman through the haze and put two rounds into the mans upper chest and neck.

    "Tango down!"

    "CLEAR!"

Jester hopped on comms, "Phantom 1-1 actual, we got the other triggerman."

Meanwhile, the members of AFO Triton had formed a perimeter around the container with the rest of the Delta team, as Voodoo went to check on the EOD techs.  Removing his helmet, he asked the leader in Estovakian if there was anything he could do to help.

The Estovakians welcomed the military man to help them as they poured over digital schematics of the weapon and carefully dissected parts of it. Pulling away panels to expose important wires that once cut off would render it inert. Watching for any kind of last-ditch mechanisms, timers that might be set off if the bomb was being tinkered with. Finally one of the Stovies let out a quiet, but optimistic, shout. The weapon was now disarmed.

"This is Lawman, bomb's out of play. Repeat bomb's out of play." He radioed.

    **********************************SF MISSION 9 END**********************************
Debrief: Excellent work. We've managed to stop the Shamlakis from ejecting us from Isara. With the bomb diffused and evidence firmly in our hands, we can now go after those who made it. There's little doubt they won't try to do it again. It's time to hunt down those responsible and stop them.

    SF Mission 11: Skeleton Crew
    April 4, 2018 (UN HQ Time: 2030)
    AO: “The Hostel”, Eastern Shamlak

All-source intel has given us a solid fix on a meeting between Generals Yossan Huluk and Mashlan Ah-Shaik, the head of the Shamlaki military and the head of the Shamlaki Intelligence Services. We believe they’re meeting with King Ah-Fais himself to discuss how to best manage the war from here on out. While we cannot pinpoint the King’s agenda, or if he’ll even meet with them in person, we know the generals will be there. We’ve been given the go-ahead to capture them. Command wants both men alive. They’ll be going to Ah-Fais’s winter retreat, which we’ve dubbed “The Hostel”. The facility is always guarded by a platoon of light infantry, with a quick reaction force of the same size at the base of the mountain on which it sits (eighty troops total with small arms, emplaced weapons, and light helicopters). The facility also has several SAM emplacements around it. The actual complex consists of two primary buildings, one for guests and one for the king, a garage complex, guard barracks/security center, pool, tennis court, helipad and overlook platform.
The mission will be executed as follows: Phantom will be placed ahead of Lawman and Triton to destroy the KS-1 sites. This will allow Lawman to be inserted close to the complex and allow Stalker to provide air support. Triton, in the meantime, will attack the Shamlaki QRF to prevent them from reinforcing the complex and cut off the escape route for the generals. Once they’ve destroyed the SAM sites, Phantom will position themselves to prevent the generals from fleeing east to the mountains. After extraction you will proceed north to the Yuktobanian border. Good luck.

Jester adjusted his PLATATAC Headover over his mouth. He checked his Sioninc lightweight AR, which replaced the typical SCAR-Hs for this mission. Normally, the short city-boy loed mountain climbing, but at this moment, he hated it. The SEALs were also loaded with M112 charges, LAW rockets and an M320 grenade launcher. The now sixteen man team was alone for the time as they moved carefully to their OP over the SAM sites. One 4 man team would hit each simultaneously to clear the path.

    April 4, 2018 (Local Time: 2140)
    Somewhere over Eastern Shamlak

Brad lowered his NVGs again after rubbing his eyes to get back to watching the terrain as it whipped by. More eyes watching the better, he always mused. He also had to admit it was a surreal feeling to get a shot at two of the top officers of the Shamlaki military. It would certainly slow the war down. Not stop it, but slow it yes.

The plan was to descend directly on Huluk and Al-Shaik. Their air support would tear apart most of the bad guys outside guards in the immediate vicinity. Because of this, once again Teiji would be playing the role of a standard infantryman instead of setting up to snipe things. They needed speed.

"So this villa, how much you wanna bet it's Wellian in aesthetic design?" Toby shouted somewhere behind him. The briefing had centered on the technical details, but with the lull the LMG gunner had struck up a conversation about its style and appearance beyond mission-relative details.

"I'd think Lenshire or Emmerian. They were both heavily involved in the country. Lotta cultural influence leftover from their era." Roadkill offered up.

"My guess is it has some serious native Shamlaki flare to it either way. Kings, Ah-Fais included, would wanna look like something other than a hypocrite." Teiji reasoned.

"Either way think if we could make that our FOB in Shamlak! That pool! The garage! We could easily make space for helos! Man we could have luxury AND function." Toby said.

"Only problem is it belongs to Ah-Fais. We take it, he'll probably take it back with a few divisions or something." Brad joked.

"Maybe we could make a mock-up in Osea and have that as our vacation home." Crusher smirked, His CO returned the expression.

    "Someone write our local congressman."

The Villa of King Ah-Fais, the same time...

"Can we really allow the Eruseans and Veruseans to intervene? With all due respect, Your Highness, this war is spiraling out of control. We cannot be certain if they'll not try to simply subjugate us after they face the UN." General Huluk said.

"They will only be allowed to intervene under my strict instructions, General." The King assured from a speaker phone between the two men.

"I can do what I can to see if they may be thinking like that, but it will take time to establish a place inside their commands." Ah-Shaik suggested.

"I will await your progress, Director. In the meantime I will keep them at bay." The King replied.

The discussion slid into the current situation. The Ustians and Emmerians, despite a fierce fight, were making gains in Burj Al Nasr and moving more troops around the city to the north. The Yuktobanians and Oseans had sent two divisions each across the northern border. The open terrain up there afforded them a lightning-fast advance, and UN air superiority in the locale meant the Shamlakis could do little. They were actually bypassing several major cities, only holding ones that had substantial resistance in them, blocking those settlements from attacking the main drive. The impending arrival of the Eruseans and the Veruseans seemed to mean nothing to them.

After a nearly hour-long approach, Odin and Dusty, clad in ghillie suits to allow them to masquerade as pieces of scrub brush, crested the hill that would allow them to observe the small guardpost overlooking the villa while the rest of Triton made their way towards the outpost.

As Odin sighted in on the guard tower, Dusty whispered, "In position, boss."

    "Check.  We're 30 seconds out."

    "Check."

Dusty talked Odin in on one of the snipers in the guard tower, and soon the radio sounded again.  "In position.  Execute on your go."

    "Copy.  Odin you ready?"

    "On target."

    "Send it."

The big sniper's MSR coughed once, sending a .338 Lapua round a thousand meters downrange.  A second later, the rifle coughed again, sending another round toward its target.

At the same time, Voodoo and Dingo, having snuck up on a pair of sentries, leapt upon them, with Voodoo jamming his tomahawk in the man's throat while Dingo slit his target's throat.

Jester scrabbled up the stony outcropping, trying to be as quite as possible.

"Pretend your a little fucking mouse," he thought to himself. The first team was almost set on the objective, and teams 2 and 3 had already been in position for a half an hour.

"This is taking too long," he thought, though his watch indicated he was right on time. Getting set into position, he scanned the hostile positions. A few guards, smoking and laughing, and the missile batteries. letting the AR slide down next to him, he removed the M320 standalone launcher from his backpack and readied it.

    "Phantom 1-1 is set."

    "1-2, set"

    "1-3. up."

    "1-4 up."

"Roger, Lawman, Phantom is in position. 3-2-1"

The 40mm grenade seemed to move in slow motion as it arced towards the light truck. Suddenly, the terrain surrounding all the SAM positions was ablaze. Several SEALs fired additional 40mm grenades and a LAW at any vehicles. Then, the LMG gunners laid down a base of fire as the assault element moved forward.

Triton's initial attacks were unnoticed by the force at the base of the mountain. The Shamlakis near the tower didn't spend much time looking up, and the tower's concrete form meant when the man feel there wasn't much noise from him falling down. The two that Voodoo and Dingo leapt on attracted a bit more attention, but that was about the time Jester and his SEAL's started lighting up the SAMs.

That temporarily distracted the QRF's collective attention as stunned troopers who'd managed to survive the explosions on the mountain were hit by the incoming fire. The only ones to actually survive were those who'd been forced to the ground by the concussions and left to gasp for breath. The QRF's post sprang to life as an alarm started to sound. the two light helos were approached by technicians to check the machines. The unarmed men were escorted out by about eight troopers, most armed with AUGs. Two carried MG3s, which were placed facing the northern end of the helipads. The riflemen formed a defensive circle around the helos at the edge of the helipads.

At "The Hostel", Huluk and Ah-Shaik looked away from their king as they heard the rumble of explosions.

"Your excellency, it appears we may be in danger...I'm afraid the meeting may have to resume later." The General said, looking back at his leader.

"Very well, I will see you both in Jalaka in a handful of days." He agreed. The screen quickly went blank and the two men stood up, following a four-man team out the door and down some stairs.

"Do we have a clear picture of the situation?" Huluk asked.

"We believe them to be enemy special forces, sir. We'll be using the helicopter to leave, which should be aloft shortly." The fireteam leader replied.

In the meantime, two sniper teams had been deployed to counter the SEALs while two eight-man squads took cover behind walls, each deploying their FN MAGs to provide suppressing fire against the unseen shooters. The snipers, armed with WA2000s and night scopes, started firing on the SEALs.

"Phantom, this is Lawman, SAMs down?" Brad radioed.

AFO Triton quickly cleared the outpost while Dusty and Odin moved to rejoin the team.  Once it was clear, the two marksmen climbed the tower, setting up to cover the SEALs.  From their position they had an excellent view of the guard garrison and the Hostel. "Boss, we're in place."

    "Good."

"Looks like they've got a pair of helos spinning up."

"Not if we can help it.  Take them out of play."

Odin replied, "Check."  The big sniper nodded at Dusty, who planted the launch tube for a Switchblade on the floor and fired.  The small UAV launched into the air.  Opening up his laptop, he guided the first one towards one of the helos.

At the same time, Dusty scanned the compound with his thermal optics, planning the order in which his partner would engage.

Halo had set up his KAC SR-25 with the an AN/PAS-13, and was able to locate the snipers due to the muzzle flash. lining up the first one from his sitting position behind a rock, he gently squeezed the trigger, firing a round at the first sniper. Quickly transitioning to his next target, he fired again. In the meantime, Jester had swapped out the HE grenade in his standalone M320 for an airburst round and fired it over one of the walls. Another assaulteer did the same for the other wall. At the other SAM sights, the SEALs began to clear out the reamaining guards, checking their surroundings.

"1-2, charges set, demo in 30 seconds."

    "1-3 set, ready in 30."

Only 1-1 and 1-4 had yet to plant their charges.
