Sabrina was confused by it all and followed the Irish Captain, what did Allen want with her?

    -----

The Old man walked into the room, he turned on a Macintosh machine that Sabrina had built for Wing Blue. She had showed him an amazing program that made briefings much easier that still blew him away every time he saw it. He clicked on the app.

with everything ready he waited for his pilots to enter the room.

After being informed they were due for a debrief soon enough, Cody lead his fourship to the place their messenger had told them to come to. Hoping to confirm how many kills he actually got that day, the lead pilot  sat down near the front and waited for the others to show. In the meantime he lit a smoke and sighed while the group gathered. When the Irish-accented O'Hara entered, he acknowledged the man but heard no call for attention. Odd...guess the man wasn't as high as the wing's CO. Nonetheless he looked at the man.

"Ah never expected to. What's the latest we need to know?" He asked.

The Old man stepped up to the podium and cleared his throat. The pilots were still trickling in, but he had things to get done.

"Well first of all I have to congratulate you all, that would have been a very difficult mission for anyone, but you all where tossed into it, without ever having worked together before, I have to say that was outstanding work."

    He paused for a moment

"Raymond Arnold was a friend of many years, an outstanding Intelligence man, pilot, and most of all a good man. You don't forget your old war buddies, and its hard to go into the next one and lose them right at the start. Even so our losses could have been much worse, it was fortunate that Buster 3 and 4 are ok"

He almost scowled, but forced himself to hold back

and ruin the F-15s perfect combat record, dealing the Soviets a propaganda boost, I swear to god you two will never see a pla----

    He noticed he was drifting

"eh hem, here is the official kill count for the mission."

    Sabre 1 Mig-23 1
    Sabre 2 Mig-23 1
    Sabre 3 Mig-23 1
    Sabre 4 Mig-23 1 Mig-29 1

    Blaster 1 Mig-23 1 Mig-29 1

    Blaster 2 Mig-29 1 damaged Mig-29 1 kill 3 Mig-23

"you all did good, but damn, Buster 2? you know the last time I saw that many Migs killed in a day? April 4th 1952, you could have been a Saber pilot kid. The rest of you could have done well in Nam, damn good, keep it up."

He pointed to the Irish man

"Captain O'Heir Will become our new second in command. We will also have a new intel officer as soon as I formalize the paper work."

He looked to Sabrina who was now operating the Powerpoint

"Miss Kelly will now take part in combat missions in her XS-3"

    "WHAT!?"

She almost jumped out of her seat, she was stunned and confused, the Old man looked at her right in the eyes.

    "Right?"

He said it in a commanding way, Kelly who was totally off guard stumbled

    "um-- Yes sure, yes sir."

Still confused, trembling and immediately regretting her decision, but to afraid to say anything, she got back to working the Mac.

"Our Bomber force destroyed the target without much damage to themselves, they also took out two SAMs, an AA-Gun, and half a dozen tanks, good work boys."

"Now does anyone have any questions."

Subha raised his hand.  "Just one, sir.  What's next?  And are we gonna be getting more help in the air to mud department?  Me and my guys are good, but there's only so much we can do."

The old man look to him

"The plan is to enlarge the unit as a whole right now, everything is a bit short, that said, Bombers have top priority, since we have a fair amount of fighters. Unfortunately NATO command hasn't been keeping their promises for very long. One day I have a B-1B unit, the next its needed elsewhere. I've been told the RAF might be willing to send some Vulcans or Victors, but we will have to see. In the meantime Sabrina will follow you loaded with bombs."

The pilots in his flight hit Havoc on the arm in congratulations. He smiled.

"Thank you, sir. Glad to see I made the unit proud." He nodded. Cody also nodded at the praise for his score.

"Hopefully it's a sign of things to come, sir." He said. If the VVS and its friends could be subdued quickly, the war would be drastically shortened.

When the Colonel asked for questions and Subha made his case, Cody raised a hand.

"If we really are hurting for craft, sir, maybe offer ourselves up as a place for units that are under-strength to come? Unit gets hit too hard, we take its last few jets and crews and add them to what we have?" He suggested. He also thought of what he might be able to do with CVW-17...then again he was only a Lieutenant.

The old man looked to the young F-15 pilot.

"Something like that is being considered, Wing Blues relationship with the Pentagon means things are a bit muddled now. If it does happen it would in all likelihood be with someone based here."

Dexter asked as he heard that the XS-3 would be joining them as their backup, "Can that little tinker toy of hers really follow us down on the deck and still be able to hit targets with the same accuracy?"

Sabrina was still in shock but she found the courage to defend her baby. In a moment she changed to a move

"The XS-3's downward canards and decoupled controls let it do maneuvers no other plane could, It also has advanced GCAS, if any fighter could do it its the XS-3"

    As for its pilot.....

The Irishman listened as the general debriefed the pilots. Captain O'Hara was a bit taken aback when his surname was mispronounced as O'Heir but he wouldn't speak up on the issue. He simply stood silently continuing to smoke as the debriefing continued.

"If y'all want, Ah could always bug the A-6 guys aboard the Sara." Cody suggested half jokingly to the F-111 pilots. He then looked at their commander.

"There was another matter Ah wanted to discuss, sir. Despite my low rank, Ah might be able to act as some sort of go-between for us and the USS Saratoga's air wing. We may not be able to have her every time, or at all, but Ah think it'd be worth a shot." He added on a more serious note.

Subha chuckled, "Very true.  Even if those pudgy little bastards can't keep up with us, they can bomb like nobody's business."

"wouldn't mind part time ownership of a carrier air wing, you have my blessing son, we can talk details in my office later. Anyway, does anyone have any more questions?"

Cody popped up from his seat and rotated his neck. He felt like some KFC or Burger King might be in order to remind himself how precious life was. He also needed to tell his chief he'd scored two kills. He'd inform the man on his way to get food. The pilot bid the others farewell and left to talk to the Staff Sergeant. The man was ecstatic at the success of his plane and they had two dull red stars painted on the nose of the F-15. Hicks explained the dull paint would make them hard to see by enemy fighters. Post war Cody could display bright markings. The Lieutenant agreed and thanked his ground crew for their help again before walking off to eat.
