    Skalski Briefing Room

Post by Ronin201 on Wed Jun 08, 2016 7:55 am

SPECIAL RULE FOR MISSION: NOT ALL AIRCRAFT ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE OFF FROM SKALSKI, BUT MUST LAND AT SKALKSI.

    Mission One (Air): Lineman
    November 18, 2045 (Local Time: 0520)
    AO: Stål Island, Southern Nordlands

    Briefing:
The Erusean Imperial Military has been bombing the Nordic Defense Force heavily since November 16th, and has already pressed the attack on the ground with the NDF disorganized and retreating. Elements of the Nordic Ground Defense Force’s 18th Mechanized Division have escaped and tried to organize on the resort island of Stål, but the Eruseans are keeping up the pressure. A large air raid is believed to be heading for the island to knock out the division once and for all. Our objective is to intercept the attacking aircraft and their escorts before they can destroy the division’s combat capabilities. Erusean aircraft have already knocked out radars set up on the island and so far have total control of the air over much of the eastern part of the country.

We will attack from multiple directions to try and offset the enemy’s numerical superiority. Two groups of fighters will attack from the south, while two attack from the north. You’ll have machines at both high and low altitude to split the enemy fighter force. If you can, force them to retreat; the primary targets are the strike aircraft. The strike aircraft cannot be allowed to make a coordinated attack against the 18th Mechanized Division. It appears that the Eruseans have been equally favoring the CFA-44 and F-02 to fight the NDF’s air arm, so we cannot accurately guess which will be used to cover the enemy attack aircraft. We can guess, however, that they will use the Su-43BM as their primary attack aircraft. The Berkut is a potent strike aircraft, but can double as a fighter as reported by all-source intel. However it is far less capable in the latter role. We cannot stress prioritizing these aircraft enough when you attack. If the division is significantly damaged, the mission will have failed. Good luck.

    Weather and Terrain:
The weather over Stål Island is very good, with a few clouds at 15,000 feet. There is no threat of any kind of weather, and the temperature is 38 degrees Fahrenheit (3 degrees Celsius). The only terrain is the island itself, which has several high hills towards the center. The coastline is about 15 miles north, and the island itself is roughly five miles long and three miles wide.

Mission Two (Air): The Last Boat From Fristad
    November 20, 2045 (Local Time: 1022)
    AO: Fristad, Southeast Nordlands

    Briefing:
With the 16th Mechanized out of harm’s way, we can now concentrate on the next major evacuation in the area. We hope that this, along with others, will allow us to properly form a defensive line in the western part of the country and hold the Erusean advance. Our next allies in need of assistance are members of the Nordic 1st Airborne Group, as well as they 88th Homeland Defense Regiment, both of which are trying to evacuate the port city of Fristad. The Eruseans have deemed this a valuable target, and unfortunately we must forfeit it to them for now. They’ve landed forward elements of a marine infantry division to the east to make a lightning attack on the city while their land-based divisions push the attack further north. However, we will not leave it in pristine shape for them. Besides helping out allies, we will raze selected parts of the port.

Our primary objective, as previously mentioned, is to assist in the evacuation of friendly forces and civilians. We’ll establish multiple CAP stations around the bay to defend against raids. The port’s local ferry service will be helping in this, as will a number of other civilian ships. The primary evacuation ship will, however, be the Osea LHA OFS Hicks. The LHA will provide evac via its transport aircraft. Our mission will be to keep the airspace over the port secure, as well as stave off any assaults by Erusean ground forces approaching the city. Any Erusean air attacks are expected to be with the purpose of clearing out enemy defenses or supporting the attack, so expect fighter bombers with escort. Again, the Eruseans may use either the Wyvern or Nosferatu to gain control of the air. On the ground, watch for missiles, anti-aircraft guns, and lasers at almost all altitudes. As a final move, while our final forces are evacuating, we will destroy the bridge over the bay and bomb another bridge leading to one of the major islands in the bay. If the evacuees take too many casualties or the Eruseans secure the bridges, we will have failed. Good luck.

    Weather and Terrain:
The weather will be cloudier today, with the cover sitting around 20,000 feet. With winter rolling ever closer, temperatures continue to drop, and today it is expected to be 32 degrees Fahrenheit (0 degrees Celsius), but still no signs of weather. Fristad is a very modern city with several high-rise buildings towards the center that go up several hundred feet, with a few going over a thousand feet. Otherwise you will have to be flying very low to hit a building. However, you will be at great risk should you eject over the city or water. Aim for the country to the west of the city if you need to eject. Fristad is roughly 20 miles long and ten miles wide.

Mission Three (Air): Air Traffic Control
    November 24, 2045 (Local Time: 2100)
    AO: Centrum Korsning, Central Nordlands

    Briefing:
With evacuation in full swing, we’ve been presented with a…unique opportunity. The international airport at Centrum Korsning is close to being overrun, meaning it has been abandoned as an evac site. However, we cannot let the Eruseans use it as an airfield, not immediately. Since the airport is small enough to destroy in one strike, it’ll be easier to make unusable for a while than a port. We’ve been ordered to raze the place best we can before an Erusean assault force lands on it. Intelligence believes that the elite 29th Airborne Division will be landing there with heavy support. We can’t repel any full-scale assaults, so once the first Erusean aircraft show up, withdraw. We expect them to push us from the airport quickly, and don’t get bogged down in any fights with the enemy! We need all the allied pilots we can get.

The airport, as you can imagine is large enough to support the EIAF’s operations in the area. There are four major runways with numerous taxiways and roads. Two of the runways are along the northern part of the grounds and two are along the south. The east and west terminals, connected by three footbridges, are the major buildings, with the control tower a part of the west terminal. The entire airport has a light rail system that allows transport to all major parts of it, and the fuel dump serves as the place from which any and all tanker trucks are loaded so they can fuel airliners. The fuel dump is located at the southwest edge for the safety of everyone at the airport. Several hangars are located at the far east of the property; buildings for branches of major airlines. Your primary targets will be the runways, control tower, fuel depot, and light rail. If you can, attack the hangars and terminals to further the list of repairs Erusean forces will have to undertake. If you fail to destroy the primary targets before the Eruseans arrive in force, the mission will have failed. Good luck.

    Weather and Terrain:
Weather reports scattered snow flurries have dusted the area with some snow, but cloud cover is still heavy below 8,000 feet. The temperature will be 35 degrees Fahrenheit (1 degrees Celsius) during your flight. The airport is set on a large valley near the city of Centrum Korsning to allow planes to land without worry of hitting any terrain. The city itself, north of the airport, has few buildings that rise above 700 feet, which means it will not be much of a problem to flight. If you eject, you will be without much cover until you move for several miles, however. If you have to eject, get as far west as you can.

    Enemy Forces:
We don’t have an accurate estimate on enemy forces. They’ve been making sporadic recon flights, and we may believe they may make some sweeps with fighters or aircraft looking to destroy any ground-based air defenses. Be ready for anything.

    Allied Forces:

    Osean Navy, VF-34 “Daredevils”
    x4 F-24C Hellcat II “Skull”

Mission Four (Air): Kill the King (Part 1)
    November 28, 2045 (Local Time: 0445)
    AO: Northwest Spring Sea

    Briefing:
Since the start of the war, the Erusean Imperial Navy has been waging a very effective war against Nordlands, supporting landings as well as helping to secure air and naval superiority. The majority of their fleet has been centered on two armadas, one moving through the waters to the north of the country, and one to the south. We’ll be attacking the fleet repeatedly here in the south to make operations for our own ships easier. They are well aware of our presence in the area, and we have faced raids big and small since the start of the war. For now we have suffered only a few losses, but as the larger ships get near and as Erusean submarines become a bigger threat, we can expect those losses to rise unless we act. This operation will span multiple missions, so prepare for a long one.

The Eruseans operate using mostly older corporate-era equipment, consistently upgraded and updated to remain up-to-date with other systems. Because of this, we will need to break down the fleet’s outer defenses to get to flagship, the carrier Megalith. The outer perimeter is defended by a number of heavily-armed Knight-class destroyers and Pawn-class frigates. Besides their surface-to-surface weapons, these ships carry direct energy weapons (lasers) and advanced Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) systems to defend against air attack. We’ll attack from multiple angles in conjunction with several allied surface ships and submarines. The primary focus will be the ships, but expect the carrier to have several fighters in the area. We will have a CAP airborne to protect any ASM-carriers. In addition to anti-ship missiles, we’ll be using an ABL-1 aircraft to help destroy several ship’s defenses, but don’t expect it to do all the work. It will, however, do its best to open up a path for our ASMs. WAIT UNTIL IT GETS INTO POSITION TO AVOID WASTING ASMS. Destroy the fleet’s outer defenses so we can get to the inner defenses. If we fail to sink the ships, we’ve failed the mission. Good luck.

    Weather and Terrain:
The rougher weather of December is getting closer, but today the most we see are still sporadic clouds at around 17,000 feet. The temperature continues to drop, topping at 28 degrees Fahrenheit (-2 degrees Celsius) today. Since this mission is over the ocean, there are no notable features for a number of miles. However, the ocean poses a very grave threat, as it will be very cold. Do your best to stay warm if you go down, and try to go down far from the battle so you can be rescued quickly.

    Enemy Forces:
Erusean Imperial Armada, 2nd Southern Fleet
    x4 Knight-class destroyer
