"Son of a bitch!" He snarled as he watched the GPS rounds slam into Forsta 5's position, knocking down his platoon down to a mere one and a half vehicles. Gripping the stick and seething, he pulled the jet over and hit the throttle, the engine howling as he began to close in on the Erusean scout group and the ATGM carriers responsible for the call. Noel followed after him, though she cackled just a little; the entire idea behind their TAC names was that Cerus was usually the calm one. Seeing the group being wiped out before his eyes was more than enough to get his blood boiling, and so her Talon burned after the lead aircraft, eager to sharpen its fangs on the forces below. "Rapture, EOTS feed up. Put it on my HMD."

"Yessir," The AI complied, his normal HMD interposed with a live feed of what his electro-optical targeting system was seeing as they flew towards the highway. Despite the smoke, he could see the outlines of the two missile carriers hiding from the Lynxes behind the off ramp though he couldn't see their forward observers. He zoomed in a little with the control stick, attempting to get a closer look at the field. As he brought the Talon around with Noel in tow, he finally spotted the two observers, bunkered up between the crippled Forsta 5 force and their own weakened armor. With little to do, he began to arm the Brimstone missiles hanging from the aircraft. "Sir, would you like me to feed the observation data to Berserker?"

"Do me one better. Tag them, tell Noel to launch, then I'm going for the two coddled up together near the overhang."

"Sir." Within moments, she lased the spot where the men were stationed, transmitting the data over to the computer in Noel's Talon. "Laser-guided mode for Brimstone selected."

The redhead nodded before thumbing the mode for the warhead, getting the acquired laser designation from Rapture and squeezing the trigger, "Berserker, Rifle!"

A gout of smoke and fire belched from the back end of the black missile before it streaked off the grouping closest to the port A2A missile pylon, Noel pulling away as Cerus's Talon soared on, the blonde instead using the millimeter-wave seeker mode to target the two AFVs. "Ripple, Rifle!"

Two more of the sable daggers erupted from the launch rails and screeched towards the Erusean ATGM carriers, rising up a little as they prepared their top-down approach for maximum effectiveness.

As the missile alarm blared, Cortana's voice was heard calmly saying, "Missile launch.  Mud 21."  At the same time a large red dot pinged on the "God's Eye" map on Shamu and Sharky's MFDs.

As Sharky promptly broke hard to beam the missiles, Shamu grunted, "Cortana, spike it.  3,4, kill that site!"

"Roger, countermeasures active."  The FB-22's defensive electronics began radiating to sever the uplink between the guidance radar and the missile itself.  At the same time, the laser countermeasures system began tracking the missile, preparing to hit it and overheat the radar sensor.  When the massive SAMs were in range, the miniaturized high energy laser on Night Witch's spine locked on and fired, overheating the guidance electronics.  With their seekers barely functioning due to the heat, and thoroughly confused by the chaff, the MD-4s sailed under Night Witch before detonating.

Promptly warned by their AIs, Serpents 2 and 4 also took similar action, decoying the missiles through a combination of laser bombardment, chaff, and ECM.  At Shamu's call, Peaches broke in the direction of the MD-4 site and launched an AIM-154 at it, Speedy having set the missile to track the MD-4's targeting radar, followed by another at the search radar.  "Serpent 4, ripple Magnum!"

    "Skull 2-2, break and push!"

As soon as he'd let his wingwoman go, Jed deployed chaff and flares at his AI's behest and snapped right and then up. It made what would appear to be a giant barrel roll. The first AP-13 went wide of him and exploded somewhere out of his line of sight. The second one...oh the second one decided to be a little bastard and rattle him. It exploded just outside lethal range, in that space where it shook your plane and maybe left a scratch or two. Jed had been caught while he was inverted and starting a turn towards the nearest bunch of CFAs.

"Streetfighter, Prettyboy, y'all got those other Wyverns?" He radioed as he looked over each shoulder repeatedly for damage. AI insisted he was perfectly okay.

"Yeah, we've got em Bronco." Nathan assured coolly.

"Rog, Tsun-Tsun we're gonna press on those CFAs." Jed informed the FAA pilot. Annie was fairly certain now her squadmates were insane.

Nathan and Rick caught the two nearest F-02s perpendicular to them. Streetfighter went high and Prettyboy low as they banked right and slid into a good firing position on their opponents' tails. In the meantime Annie went high, passing behind Jed as he dove for 22,000 feet to level out and fire his remaining two AIM-152s at the incoming Nosferatus. He looked up and used his HMD to start locking onto a pair of bandits off in the distance. The pilot  pulled back the stick and throttles and swung the big fighter towards them, putting his nose on the Eruseans at almost the same time as his radar finished its job.

"Skull 2-1, Fox 3, Fox 3!" He called.

Annie rolled inverted and went for a different pair of Nosferatus. She decided to use her remaining AIM-120 and selected the nearest of a pair. The Lenish pilot made a shallow dive, keeping her speed up while staying out of afterburner. One thumb rested on the weapons release button while the other readied to send off chaff preemptively.

"Skull 2-2, Fox 3." She declared.

With that Annie rolled over, grunting against the Gs, and dove almost straight down. chaff traced her path as she dove down, aiming to go behind Jed and join back on him as he jinked his way towards the newest wave of enemy fighters.

"Bronco...I have to question the logic of two of us against twelve of them." She spoke up.

"We're gonna buy time until others are free, Tsun-Tsun. Don't get bogged down with any of em...Hellhound, Katana say status?" Jed replied.

"Katana's chopping 1-3 and 1-4 to assist, Skull." The pilot in the lead F-28 radioed as he went above an F-02 to cut inside his turn.

"Rog, thank yah kindly." Jed replied as he reversed to the right, ending up a few miles forward Hellhound. Annie stayed above, heading wide of him to keep up her supporting position. Jed quite frankly didn't feel much fear; he was too focused on staying mobile.

"Roger, engaging! " called Nahri. Flipping his radar to look-down, shoot-down, he locked onto one of the helicopters.

"Haukka 1, Fox 3!" called Lahti.

"Haukka 2 Fox 3!" At the same moment both AIM-120s kicked free of their racks. The dropped below the large fighters before igniting their motors. The on-board radar swiftly took over from the aircraft's own and rocketed towards the helicopters.

Suddenly, an RWR warning flashed and the MWS cued up.

"Incoming missiles, break defensive!" called Nahri, struggling not to panic. he yanked back on the stick and rolled the aircraft left, pulling a tight turn, streaming chaff.

"Deploy the decoy!" he yelled over the ICS. Lahti did as she was told, "Haukka 1, walking the dog!"

The AN/ALE-55 streamed out behind the Phantom and began its jamming. Haukka 2 had deployed his own and was also violently jinking in hopes of defeating the enemy missiles.

    **

"SAM launch, Mud 21" said Rosemary.

"Rose, hit that thing with all we got!" said Riley, snapping his head in the direction of the oncoming missiles.

"Roger, countermeasures on, tracking the incoming." she said smartly. Riley rolled slightly and saw the telephone pole sized missiles rocketing towards them. Fortunately, the laser/ECM combination was as deadly as it had been in the past. The incoming missiles radars became confused by tthe massive amounts of chaff and jamming. The effect was exacerbated by the heat from the lasers, and the missiles passed harmlessly by.

"I got the site on target, Serpents are ready!" called Chart from the back.

"Roger," said Raptor. On Sharky's call, he locked onto and fired his pair of missiles.

"Serpent 3, ripple Magnum, MD-4 battery" he said. The missiles streaked after a separate battery, not to far from the ones Peaches and Speedy had engaged. Similarly, one was set to track the search radar, while the other hunted down the targeting radar.

“One less Wyvern to worry about!” Naomi thought to herself as her second kill was confirmed, however the young half-Shimo pilot’s celebration was cut short as the computerized voice of Spikey went from “Lock, Alert, Lock.” To “Warning!” followed by alarms and a red tinted HUD. Naomi like her flight lead sprang into action, putting her jet in a series of tight turns, throwing chaff and letting her aircraft’s tail mounted Jamming systems go to work. Naomi’s evasive maneuvers overlapped with her flight lead as she raced out of a sharp left turn and then into a right, continuing to leave countermeasures in her wake. Naomi grunted as she was pushed back into her seat from the G-Forces, doing her best to keep the AP-13’s off her trail.

“Hellhound two is engaged defensive with bandits…” Naomi radioed to Skull and Katana flight as she brought the aircraft back around to face her attackers.

“Hellhound Lead is also engaged defensive at this time. Three and Four are as well. Could use some support…” Erich grunted out as he went into another turn. Spikes and Otaku remained relatively silent as they maneuvered hard against the incoming attack from the Wyverns, going low then popping back up into a series of turns coupled with chaff/jamming. Naomi in the meantime acquired a lock with the aid of her AI and loosed off a single AIM-120 against one of her attackers.

“Hellhound Two, Fox Three.” Naomi growled as she fired and pushed the Taipan back into another turn.

Otaku and Spikes then committed their own shots to the single shot fired by the young Lieutenant.

    “Otaku, Fox Three!”

    “Hellhound Three, Fox Three.”

    The Dogfight
    November 20, 2045 (Local Time: 1114)
    Over Northern Fristad

The F-02s Street and Prettyboy were chasing, Ravens E2-3 and E2-4, spotted their approaching adversaries and reacted accordingly. First they banked right in unison, moving into the attack, and then they split their formation to avoid being bunched up, both going high and clawing for altitude. Raven E2-4 worked her rudders and throttles to try and turn towards the F-24s, making it look almost like she was drifting in the latter part of her hard left. The pilot turned her head towards the lead Hellcat, piloted by Prettyboy, and fired one of her AP-11s.

"Raven E2-4, Rapier!" She declared in an Ustian accent.

Her lead used that time to get above the furball, where he could take a more commanding position. He slowed, extending the F-02's switchblade wings, and nosed over to attack from above.

Further west, the two Raven F-02s that'd run for Hellhound used every second of the time they'd bought from the F-25s' maneuvering to do something. The odds, numerically, were against them which denied them an immediate second shot at first. Instead the strategy, at least until the CFAs arrived, was to keep moving. Attack whomever appeared in your gunsight or was within reasonable reach and then move to someone else.

For Raven E3-1, this came in the form of launching an AP-11 at Hellhound Lead after meeting him (Erich) almost head-on after his latest turn. After declaring "Rapier" he passed by to the man's right, where Naomi's AMRAAM went after him. The Erusean pulled back on the stick and sailed upwards, trailing chaff and passively relying on the EA-200 to immediately even up his chances. Even as the radar guided missile was becoming, less of a threat, though, he found the F-25 that'd shot it was turning, looking like it was going to follow him. The man bit his lower lip and deployed more chaff, before nosing over to try and come down on top of the Osean before Naomi had another chance at him. The Gs really notched up on the maneuver as he grunted and worked his muscles to stay conscious.

Then came Otaku and Spikes's AMRAAMs, which only further complicated things. The man  pulled away from his dive on Hellhound Two, deploying chaff. The problem was he was in a bad position and gaining speed, and that meant time to pull up and get on a good path to defeat the missiles. Otaku's AMRAAM caught him as he was pulling up and left, shearing off the EIAF fighter's left wing and sending it tumbling away slowly. The fighter rolled over and the pilot bailed the first time his cockpit was upright again.

The entire time Raven E3-4, the other surviving F-02, had gone deep. The pilot screamed in at full afterburner before cooling his fast approach rapidly with a High Yo-Yo so he'd have a good angle on Hellhounds 3 and 4 below. Working quickly, as quickly as his plane's computer and he could, he let his two AP-11s go, one for each Taipan. The pilot then aimed for the air behind them to start his escape. He'd run north, staying low, go past the MD-4 battery that was in the area, and then turn northeast to hit the tankers.

The main CAP effort, Raven E3-4 reckoned, would switch over to Saber Flight and its Nosferatus. The jets were already screaming in mostly unopposed. The two AMRAAMs that Skull had fired at them, which had been fired at Saber E1-1 and E1-2, forced the formation to break up but did little more than that. The Nosferatus broke themselves up accordingly, with Saber E1 pushing towards the aircraft that'd engaged it. They subsequently engaged with a single AP-13 each, two for Jed and two for Annie.

"Raven E3-4, bug out; we'll cover you." Saber E2-1 instructed.

"Understood E2-1, already on it." The pilot replied with an air of confidence.

"Saber Flight be advised there are at least four F-28s in enemy CAP." Raven E1-3 reported as his wingman fell to one of the Enforcer's AIM-9s.

"Roger that E1-3, we'll be heads up." Saber Lead replied. The presence of the stealth fighter was troubling, but not a trump card. It could be killed, it was just hard. In close range the Eruseans still had eyeballs, and no plane could hide from those in the daytime. The problem would be getting close enough to get a good, solid lock.

    Erusean Saber Platoon
    November 20, 2045 (Local Time; 1114)
Along the Highway in Northern Fristad

The M-89s heard the jets coming as they talked with the forward team. One of the men on the HMGs pointed out the approaching and swung the weapon towards them, firing in an attempt to at least spook them. In the meantime, two men with AP-2A man-portable anti-aircraft missiles moved forward from their tracks and raised their weapons to counter the approaching jets, revealed to be F/A-38s. They fired on the aircraft as they shot their Brimstones before fleeing onto the open highway. The Sabers' defensive systems went to work after they shot off smoke and their ES(M)-44 Kaaos electronic defense systems started working to counter the incoming missiles.

The immediate problem was the Brimstone's Millimeter-Wave Radar wasn't something the Kaaos could really defeat. The smoke they'd popped had helped but as they maneuvered away that protection faded, leaving the missiles launched by Cerus to complete their top-down attack. The sudden movement of their vehicles startled the artillery observers, making them think they were moving out. One man ran back towards the machines, curious as to why his fellow AFV crew had also fired one of the two AP-2s they carried on their vehicles. His question was answered when he heard a low roar, followed by an explosion behind him.

It threw the young man forward, while unbeknownst to him engulfing his comrade during calling in a second fire mission on the unseen Lynxes. The man landed near another abandoned car and was knocked unconcious while the other missiles impacted the ATGM carriers. The artillery, currently displacing to fire another salvo, was still shouting over the radio to them as he rolled onto his back and crawled towards the side of the road. Their MLRS battery had creamed 1st Airborne's FARP; they didn't want to be outdone. In the meantime several of the MD-2s, spotting the "Emmerian" Talons as they rose away, fired their own AP-2s, thinking the fighters were trying to get the advancing M-85s.

Down near his position, Hustad has sent his driver to check on the disabled Lynx and help the survivors to his vehicle. He intended to leave very soon. The radio chatter told him the Eruseans had M-85s pushing on his current location, and two wheel tank destroyers stood little chance against more than one main battle tank.

    Andra 3-3
    November 20, 2045 (Local Time: 1118)
    Northern Fristad

Olsen watched as several of her men were caught by two rockets from one of the AH-66s that'd swung around. In her mind she screamed for something to get the F-64s here quicker, something that wouldn't make their cahrge to the rescue in vain. All she could do was try and keep the encroaching Erusean Naval Infantrymen away; her FNC copy was the last thing that could harm an attack helicopter.

Suddenly she noted a rapid series of flashes. Upon looking up she saw the AH-66 that'd rocketed her men across the street was deploying a storm of flares and chaff, only to be hit by a missile seconds later. The woman saw two missiles streak forward from the Erusean side, then heard the sound of metal shrieking in a similar way the now-crashing AH-66 had. She could assume that it was the other helo, and that the missiles had ben it trying to ward off the camouflaged Phantom IIs as they attacked.

"Haukka, confirm the helos are down!" She called. The woman then turned the corner and started picking off more Eruseans, forcing them to halt and dig in again.

"Haukka, Andra 3-3 is going to retreat south. We have enemy infantry to out front, strength unknown...I'm going to leave an IR beacon at my current position, then sound the retreat, all force advancing southward north of that beacon are hostile. Reference two rows of identical apartments running three blocks north-to-south." She instructed. The woman then switched her attention.

"Andra 3-3, this is 3-3 Actual! On me, we'll deploy smoke and retreat southwards towards our company's headquarters!" She ordered.

The half a squad she had left acknowledged promptly, and several smoke grenades were thrown out at the cost of one more man. Olsen couldn't help but angrily tense as she waited for the smoke to fill in; she needed to move her men and time wasn't on her side. When it finally did become enough, she sounded the retreat. Unknown to her, she and six other reservists were running from about a company of Erusean infantry.

    Erusean SAM battery Command Center
    November 20, 2045 (Local Time: 1116)
    Hills North of Fristad

Immediately after the first salvo had been launched, the second was being readied. The eight remaining missiles were launched towards Serpents 2 through 4, seeing how they'd started towards the SAM site. Serpent 2 and 4 got three missiles each, while Serpent 3 got the luck from their being eight missiles and three planes and attracted two. The radar for the MD-4s, however, wan't going to last long. The operators, out of missiles to fire, pulled the plug and fled. Even then the AIM-154s' inertial guidance systems carried them in to kill the radars, leaving a bunch of empty launchers.

The launchers, seeing the explosions over on the hill, started maneuvering to head back towards the rear area. They could reload later and be united with another radar in the same manner. Losses would happen, the problem was how many the took. In the meantime though their missiles weren't doomed; the backups started kicking in to reacquire the Rosenthal aircraft. They all had three seconds to do something before the MD-4s reoriented themselves.

    KILLS FOR THIS ROUND

More CFAs...okay yah should know em at least a little bit, Jed.

"Tsun-Tsun, break and press." Jed ordered between gulps of cool, dry oxygen.

"Roger Bronco." Annie replied. I just hope you know what you're doing...

Heeding his AI's warning and advice, Jed deployed chaff and stayed committed to his hard right be fore pulling the stick back and screaming upwards to get above the Eruseans. He deployed more chaff and moved to get behind the flight path of the missiles, he released more chaff until his systems settled down and realized he wasn't being chased by missiles anymore.

Now free to fight back, he selected his AIM-9s and tilted his head up to get a nice view of the bandits. His HMD started working with his missiles so that when he brought his nose to bear on them, he'd have a lock and a good shot. He craned his neck and kept watching, forcing himself not to look forward for too long each time he checked to make sure he wasn't about to plow into someone else or something. He spotted Annie down low as she was make a violent turn to the right, chaff in her wake. One of the AP-13s that was after her exploded in her wake.

    "Tsun-Tsun yah alright?!" He called.

Annie, her expression and thoughts safe from the world, blushed the slightest. She could hear the concern flowing through his voice.

"Lieutenant, the temperature inside your helmet is rising." her AI pointed out. Annie frowned but paid the distraction no attention.

"Yes, I'm fine; stay alert yourself, Bronco." She replied as she finished her hard right and ended up directly perpendicular to the fourship they were engaging.

With her Sidewinders readied, she went straight at them and fired at the trailing CFAs before the formation could break up.

    "Skull 2-2, Fox 2, Fox 2!"

    "Skull 2-1, Fox 2! Tsun-Tsun heads up!"

Annie looked around and spotted Jed in a dive towards the Eruseans. With a curse mixed into her breath she pulled up and deployed flares. The pilot then moved towards her wingman, aiming to get above him while he struck down. Jed had also started to pull up, which made it so they passed rather close. Jed gritted his teeth as they did, but without incident other than the AI parroting "Collision warning, take evasive action" about ten or so time. The young Walker's patience got away from him a minute.

"First yah fuckin take me on a roller coatser in Sapin and now yah try to kill me..."

"Bronco are you alright??" Annie spoke up.

    "Yeah Ah'm fine, Ah'm fine."

"Roger, and stay alert." he reemphasized. Annie wasn't to pleased her self but kept it down, especially after her outburst near Stahl. She ended up with the Erusea formation at her ten o' clock; Jed was facing away from them (his seven low) and pulling up to turn around and reengage.

Prettyboy heard bits of the whole thing but lept trying to sort it out on the back burner. He and Street had more pressing issues, such as the two F-02s they were dueling.

"Streetfighter, break!" He called as the AP-11 came off its rail at him. He added a second part to the order as they split up.

"Go after that guy above us."

    "On him." Rick assured.

Nathan broke right, into the attack, and deployed flares. As the missile came down he broke left and then started ascended, more flares in his wake. The AP-11 exploded, close.

"Damage to the tailfins." AI reported.

"How serious?" Nathan asked. The system ran a diagnostic.

"Skin damage; no major malfunctions detected at this time." It reported. Nathan didn't intend to try that again, though.

Free of the short-range missile, at least, he pulled up, taking it easy at first, and then broke right to get a nice angle on that F-02. The pilot fought the Gs so he could look back and spot the Wyvern, wherever it was. Streetfighter went vertical and pushed his throttles almost all the way into afterburner to make up for the steep angle of attack as he ascended to meet the other Wyvern.

In the meantime Katana's second half put its stealth and full load of unused AIM-120s to use. They chose Saber E2 as the aircraft moved to attack Hellhound and fired two each. The jets then split, climbing above. One, Katana 1-3, willingly made himself bait while his wingman ducked away and out of the immediate field of view, waiting for someone to hopefully get suckered into taking the bait. In the meantime the AWACS had other things to worry about.

"Nier, Serpent, be advised we're sending in Nightrider to help slow the Eruseans advance. Be heads up for friendly air entering the area from 168." The Major radioed.

"Copy that targets are down. Haukka will engage targets, reference two identical apartments, north to south." said Karhila, rolling right and depositing a couple of flares to avoid anything the Erusean choppers might have thrown at them.

"Coordinates are up, I got the strobe." said Lahti, looking down upon the battle via the ETOS in the nose of the Phantom. "Holy shit, dozens of them! At least two platoons!"

"Roger, Andra 3-3, Haukka 1-1 in from the west, hot. Target, infantry south of your position, sending you coordinates. Using his data link, Karhila fed the data to the HUD of the Nordic squad leader. Looking through his own HUD, he ensured one last time that it would fall on the largest group he could see.

"Haukka 1-1, pickle!" he called, depressing the button on top of his stick. A GBU-32 dropped out of the center bay and screamed earthwards.

    ***

"Back up guidance detected." Rose chirped.

"Dammit, reacquire!" yelled Riley, rolling the F-02 hard to the left. The laser re targeted the incoming missiles and fired again. holding the left turn, Riley grunted under the Gs.

“Hellhound Three, scratch One Wyvern!” Victor shouted as the stricken F-02 screeched to Earth in a shower of debris and flames followed by his own systems alerting him to an IR guided missile launch that he quickly reacted to by throwing flares and going into a series of evasive actions. Spikes did the same, quietly swearing to herself as the G-Forces pushed back against her, pressing her body back into her ejection seat as high temperature flares dotted the sky like artificial stars.

“Hellhound Four…is evasive, lead status.” Spikes growled out, her transmissions mixing in with system alarms and her AI’s voice. Erich who had been fired upon by the recently destroyed Wyvern was in the middle of a hard turn with a “Chaff/Flare” alert bleating into his inner ears as flares popped out on an automatic cycle, he then spoke up.

“Lead is evasive, need to shake these missiles off and get back in the fight. Nomad call status.”

Naomi cleared her throat as she swung her fighter around, keeping an eye on the recently broken flight of CFA-44’s tangling with her allies. “Nomad is clear at this time, orders sir?”

“Prepare to engage the CFA’s and join Katana in the attack.” Erich said, bringing his aircraft around to see glint of the Erusean fighters in his field of view.

    “Copy.”

    The Dogfight
    November 20, 2045 (Local Time: 1119)
    Over Northern Fristad

The multi-pronged attack by Skull's lead pair had done a good job of temporarily confusing a split Saber E1 some more, but the initiative Skull 2-1 and 2-2 slid away when they encountered their own problems. It was a fair enough price to pay for damage to Saber E1-2 and E1-3, both of whom had taken a peppering of fragments from the Sidewinders that'd been fired on them. The Eruseans did what they could by staying in loose pairs and selecting jets to go after. Sabers E1-1 and E1-2, having been pushed high, found that Jed was the closed to them. Naturally that meant he'd be their target; E1-3 and E1-4 would get Annie as she dove back down.

Sabers E1-1 and E1-2 wasted little time in giving Jed something to think about; Saber E1-1 fired an AP-11 as his F-24 was in its turn while E1-2 painted him with his radar to try and spook the young pilot. Annie was faring a bit better as her opponents could latch onto her that fast. They did have to turn around to get her, after all.

"E2-3 watch out!" Raven E2-4 called as she dropped low to hit Skull 2-4 from below.

"I have him E2-4, I have him." Her lead assured.

The fellow pilot nodded and looked towards the F-24 as it was ascending, looking for her no doubt. She stayed low and got close before raising her nose and increasing speed, only by a little. The F-02 seemed to leapt out of the cityscape at the F-24, and the the next AP-11 leapt from it.

"Raven E2-4, Rapier!" She declared a second time.

In the meantime E2-3 was denied any immediate advantage as Streetfighter rose up to meet him. The Osean was already nabbing the better angle for a missile shot, and to stay on his current path would mean doom for the Erusean. He deployed flares and chaff and worked on building momentum to escape and find another way to get at the carrier-based fighter. The pilot dove down, following through on his nose over, and aimed to go below the F-24.

Saber E2 split to engage the F-28s and try and pounce on the F-25s in the meantime. With the range closing and Raven E3-4 away and heading home, their AP-11s became the weapon of choice.  Sabers E2-3 and E2-4, unengaged, broke up and banked to their right to go over the lead pair a few miles ahead and chase after the Enforcers. In the meantime E2-1 and E2-2 first turned into each other, releasing chaff and flares, and then went wide to bracket the front end of Hellhound's fourship as the two formations closed. As E2-1 turned, though, it took an AMRAAM to the stomach from Katana 1-3, leaving Saber E2-2 coming at Hellhound from its two o' clock.

"Saber E3, can you commit any fighters to support Saber E2?" The single E-787  supporting the whole thing from a distance called in light of this event.

"We can send two..." Saber E3-1 reported. The Su-43s were burning through fuel, and the fewer fighters above to guard them the bigger the risk. The ratio was already 4 CFAs for 12 Berkuts.

"Roger, send em." the AWACS ordered. Sabers E3-3 and E3-4 were on the way soon after, heading to back up E2-2.

Karkinos 4-2, Erusean Naval Infantry Platoon
    November 20, 2045 (Local Time: 1120)
North of Andra 3-3's Last Position

Junoven looked up from his wrist computer as he heard a low roar. The man spotted a single F/A-64, one of the Nords' heavier jets, screaming overhead low and fast. His instincts kicked in.

"Cover!" He shouted; his men were already on it. Good, at least for what it's worth he thought when he finally noticed.

The explosions, however, didn't happen anywhere near him or his troops. Junoven, who'd taken cover in the doorway of a bank, looked out and then up. The jet was pulling away; he shouted fro his two AP-2 gunners to take shots at it it they could. They could be next.

"This is Karkinos 4-2 to Karkinos 4-1 and 4-3, report status. Are you okay?" He radioed. The radiowaves were just filled with low static at first.

"Karkinos 4-1, 4-3 report...come in!" The officer hissed.

"Karkinos 4-1 has been hit; enemy fast movers. Count one, casualties unknown. Karkinos 4-3 is out of contact." A voice, out of breath, replied a few seconds later.

"Roger, stay in cover until you've reorganized." He advised. The man looked back up, trying to spot the single Phantom III as the two MANPADS were fired at it.

    Nightrider Lead
    November 20, 2045 (Local Time: 1121)
    Over Central Fristad

"Nier, heads up we're gonna make two runs on the columns of armor rolling down the highways. Be heads up for traffic at low altitude."

As soon as Captain Caleb Renford had made his call, he double-checked to make sure his Mk.82s were all ready and programmed. Due to the dogfight above the M-85s they were targeting, they'd have to roll in and attack like the JDAMs were unguided Mk.82s. It wasn't the man's first choice, but at least he'd get a good rise out of it. One they'd made the two runs each (each pair would hit a column, then switch it up and hit the other from a different angle), they'd start picking off more specific targets with the Brimstones they had.

"Nightrider 1-1 is in hot." He called. The pilot went down, towards the cityscape, and then passed over the center of the locale, going less than a hundred feet over the tallest buildings there.

"Nightrider 1-2 is in hot." His wingman, "Da Wolf" Mann called as he cleared the terrain and began his attack.

Renford pushed his throttles forward a bit as he cleared the buildings and swooped down, and then eased them back. All the systems in the F/A-38 clicked and buzzed away, sucking up every piece of information as the small fighter bomber screamed in towards the Erusean armor. The AI constantly warned about the altitude, but Renford ignored it. He watched his HUD-HMD and rested his thumb on the weapons release in anticipation. Out ahead, he saw the lead M-85s deploying smoke, and a few errant twinkles as they tried to deter him with their HMGs. Renford drew in calm breaths and hit the button.

"Nightrider 05, Pickle, Pickle!" He called as he  pulled back on the stick.

In his climb, the pilot rolled left and deployed more flares, zooming from about 900 feet off the deck to somewhere around 13,000 in seconds. The attack on the other column came about a second later. On the ground, Hustad watched as mushrooms or orange and red, mixed with concrete and oily smoke, rolled across the highway from three 500-pound bombs. A second Talon screamed over the Highway, laying down more high explosive on the advancing armor. The Lynx commander grimaced; all the APS in the world could defeat a simple iron bomb. He looked back at the survivors of his battered platoon, some riding on the outside of the ATGS, and keyed his mike.

"Forsta 6, this is Fortsa 5-2, we're combat ineffective and are pulling back to your position, how copy?" He radioed.

"Negative 5-2, we're sounding the general retreat. Pull back to the pre-designated rally point, how copy?" A voice, his company commander, replied. Hustad didn't argue.

"Understood 6, pulling back to the rally point." he radioed.

Free of the MD-4s, which were chasing Serpents 2,3, and 4, Sharky growled, "Shams.  I WANT those launchers."

"One step ahead of you, bud.  Chess, be advised Serpent 1 is clear, detaching to prosecute MD-4 launchers."

Sharky pulled the FB-22 in range of the retreating MD-4 launchers.  The heavy trucks were moving fast, but they couldn't outrun Night Witch.  As he came in range, Shamu designated four of the launchers.  "Sharky, computer pilot.  Clear to release."

Sharky aligned the bomb fall line on his HMD with the symbols of the four trucks, holding down the trigger on his sidestick as the pipper slowly marched downwards.  As it hit the bottom of the screen, the bomb bay doors snapped open and four SDBs fell free with light clunks.  Once he was sure the four glide bombs were away, Sharky turned away from the retreating SAM trucks and back towards the fight.

Meanwhile, Taco had turned Ay Chihuahua perpendicular to the MD-4s closing on him, and the jet's AESA began jamming the seeker heads while he dumped what seemed like a metric ton of chaff out of the decoy dispensers.  As the missiles got closer, the LIRCM began bombarding them with directed energy, overheating the guidance electronics.  It managed to get the first two, but the ran out of time with the third.  At the AI's prompt, Taco stood the FB-22 on its tail and punched in afterburner.  The big strike jet rocketed skyward just as the MD-4 detonated where it had been recently.  Taco and Shady were thrown forward against their restraints as they felt the shockwave shake their aircraft.  "Shady are we hit?!"

Looking over the status pages on his MFD, and getting confirmation from the AI, Shady said, "Some shrapnel in the tail but we're okay."

"Got it.  Serpent 1, Serpent 2's clear.  Little dinged up, but we're clear."

With no LIRCM, Peaches had to resort to the old fashioned way of dodging the missiles:  ECM, chaff, and good energy management.  Fortunately the F-02 had plenty of all of the above.  The AESA and DECM suites jammed the missiles, while the suboptimal intercept profile Peaches forced them on robbed them of precious energy.  As she punched in the afterburners and headed skywards, the missiles couldn't follow, and fell harmlessly to earth.  Once sure her tail was clear, she radioed, "Boss, we're clear too."

"Outstanding.  Now then.  Chess, I believe you had some artillery for us?"

"Berserker, break hard left, I'll break hard right. We'll let Nightrider in to dump on the column and then sweep around. Copy?" Cerus radioed as his radar warning receiver shrieked at him, the AP-2s coming in hot. He pushed the throttle forward a little more, giving himself just enough time to get Noel's reply before he came about, his hand on the stick.

Noel didn't even need a verbal confirmation. He watched as she rolled the fighter bomber over, the Talon's engine screaming loudly with the heat pouring out from the end in a tongue of translucent flame before banking hard, the tail end popping flares as Rapture ran a counter for the AP-2s launched at the aircraft. Berserker's Talon roared loudly before she put it into a shallow climb, getting only as much altitude as she dared with the other SAMs abound. Nodding to himself, the blonde pulled his own ride over before hitting a hard bank left, breathing in sharply as he felt the g forces squeeze his body into the ejection seat. "Rapture, initiate countermeasures. Dump and jam."

"Yes sir!" She chirped before his own F/A-38 began to spew flares from the dispensers, the two planes of Nier squadron peeling away in opposite directions. Bringing the bank to a slightly steeper climb than Noel's craft, he turned his head as he came about to watch as Nightrider's F/A-38s dove down onto the columns of armor, dropping the Mk.82s amid the gathered vehicles. A satisfied grimace made it to his face as he watched bright gouts of flame erupt from the highway, the MK.82s performing their job admirably as the entire movement was thrown into disarray from the coordinated strike. He noted in his head that his RWR was still going off and he pursed his lips a little before turning his attention to the radar and EOTS, using the massive processing capabilities of the F/A-38 to his advantage. "Sir?"

"Find me the launcher set which pinged me and Noel. That way she can be free to attack the column while I deal with the SAMs. The MANPADs are out; they're single-shot weapons and the carriers only had one or two onboard."

    "Yes sir, working."

In the meantime, Noel banked back around as she leveled off roughly at 6000 feet, standing on the port edge of the Talon and looking towards the highway. The carnage left behind by Nightrider was pleasing; the Eruseans were hoping to have an easier time, because of their rapid advance and many short victories, but even if they took the city, it was going to be extraordinarily costly. Zooming in using the EOTS, she watched as a number of armored vehicles sputtered and tried to move past the wrecked hulks of their brethren, the group trying to mount some form of air defense against the incoming raid. Just then Rapture popped up on the MFD, causing her to raise an eyebrow. "Mr. Grump got a plan?"

The AI's icon winked in confirmation. "Yes ma'am. Nier 1 is going after the mobile SAM and radar site. Nier 2 is tasked with finishing off the armor column, and initiating contact with Forsta 5."

"He's giving me all the fun stuff! Aw, how sweet. I owe him one of those Nordland ales I heard so much about. Alright! Scan for targets," Noel replied cheerfully before she keyed the radio, keeping track of Nightrider's movements. "Nightrider, this is Berserker. Lead has tasked me to join in on the party. Got anything you want a few loads of Brimstone dropped on?"

Jed concentrated on the missile that'd actually been fired; he wasn't going to let the mistakes keep rolling. The pilot reversed his turn and let out a burst of flares, taking the Gs that crashed down onto his body with a series of angry grunts and strained looks over his shoulder, the pilot tracked the missile and  went high, deploying more flares. His vision shuddered and strained as black seemed to crawl into the edges of it, but Jed was just too stubborn to let himself black out at the stick. He went high and slowed as the AP-11 started to lose him. He pulled back until the top of the F-24 was facing towards the ground and he was going where even the TV-equipped missile could not.

He drew in a long breath as he ended up inverted and in the process of coming down on Sabers E1-1 and E1-2 like a swatting hand. He still had his AIM-9s selected, of which he had one left. Jed went for it and mentally snarled at Annie. Y'all better be clear, Chopra...

"Skull 2-1, Fox 2!" He called.

The pilot aimed for just behind the jets, sacrificing a few more flares to buy time to get to a safer piece of air. At the same time, Annie used what little time she had to act on her advantage. The CFAs were already turning into her own maneuver, which means she had to drive home and get over them. Force them to reverse and in using that time get far away so she could grab the upper hand. She made the move quick, deploying flares and chaff to add to whatever little time she might have. The pilot gradually tried to move up as well to get in a place where the Eruseans couldn't shoot.

Streetfighter intended to catch the F-02 close and get it before it could get too far. He had his best opportunity at the top of the Erusean's maneuver, just as he was nosing over. Rick was tempted to keep his nose aimed at the Wyvern, but that would just mean a possible mid-air collision. He slowed himself and began a turn to the right to come around and get the Erusean again should his first shot miss.

"Skull 2-4, Fox 2." He reported. As soon as the missile was away, the pilot  picked up the pace and went a little wide to negate any in-close tricks the Erusean might have.

"Prettyboy, say status...do you need assistance?" He radioed between breaths as his jet turned.

"Negative...I'm alright, I'm alright. Stay heads up, though; I may need it soon." Nathan assured.

Skull 2-3's pilot was right on the edge; he could take the advantage or he could risk getting blown out of the sky. The pilot came around, trailing flares, and readied an AIM-9 to counter. He reckoned his enemy had gotten enough fun.

Katanas 1-3 and 1-4, in the meantime, went high and then split to engage the two CFAs coming to try and help. Katana 1-1 went after Raven  E1-3 while Katana 1-2 was sent to help the F-25s. The lead Enforcer nosed over and dove at the lone F-02 from above as it was going high and right. The pilot pulled back on the stick and swung his nose to get an at least somewhat viable angle. With the press of a button, an AIM-9X was slipped out into the open air from the left cheek bay.

    "Katana 1-1, Fox 2!"

In the meantime Katana 1-2 came around off Hellhound's fic o' clock.

"Hellhound this is Katana 1-2, am moving to support you, how copy?" The pilot radioed.

Down on the deck, Nightrider wasn't hesitating. They kept on with their attack and when they were done they'd factor in the new Talon.

"Nier, we've been tasked to slow Erusean armor along the highways. We're going to make one more run and then we'll start picking off what we can. Go for the armor first, how copy? And be heads up for MF-2s; those things pack lasers." Captain Renford outlined. In the meantime as they contiued to pound away with rounds, Chess guided the FB-22s onto the guns.

"Roger that Serpent, standby for datalink."

Hellhound; who had successfully shook off the attack from the attacking F-02B's now turned to assault the incoming Nosferatu that had now entered the fight. Erich ordered Naomi and Spikes to go high while Victor and him would tackle the bandits that were attempting to bracket them. Naomi and Gisele shot high and uncaged their Sidewinders as they closed with the hostile CFA's while Otaku moved to cover Wolf Dog.

"Katana 1-2; this is Hellhound Lead. We're moving to meet and engage hostiles at this time. Could use the backup."

"Time to get close; I'll watch your back Two."

    "Nomad copies."

Naomi shot upward to gain an altitude advantage while Gisele slashed to her right underneath her to flank the bandits. In the meantime Naomi popped a couple flares in her wake as she nosed over, selecting the bandit opposite of the target Gisele had selected.

"Nomad, Fox Two!" Naomi called, letting an AIM-9X blaze off the rail towards her target. At the same time Gisele had called her shot and fired upon her own target with an enthused, "Fox Two!" Then came Wolf Dog and Otaku whom had staggered their approach towards the bandits bracketing them. Otaku coming from below and Wolf Dog who was slightly ahead and at a higher altitude.

"Wolf Dog, Fox Two!" The older pilot radioed, depressing the trigger on his stick and firing upon the enemy.

    The Dogfight
    November 20, 2045 (Local Time: 1124)
    Over Northern Fristad

"He's above us, break now E1-2!"

Saber E1-1 went high to try and reacquire the lone F-24 of Jed Walker as soon as he could, deploying a handful of flares in the process. He pushed against his plane's damage stubbornly, making it work for him. Not the other way around. The pilot applied tactics and thinking much like Jed: get were the enemy missile couldn't go and until then slow and confuse it. He ended up above and behind the missile, but he soon discovered it hadn't been meant for him. A flash near his three o' clock drew a look from the Erusean, who saw Saber E1-2 falling apart behind its cockpit. The jet had apparently attempted to maneuver away from the missile and then into it to overwhelm it. The timing must've been off.

Saber E1-1 kept up his ascent for only a second more, and then swung his nose around. When he felt the plane shudder a little he eased up, deciding he'd gambled on structural integrity enough. The Damage Control Location Indicator (DCLI) told him most of the hits were along the back, just short of the engine nozzles. The Colonel leading the CFA squadron was now behind Jed, but not in a position to immediately fire. Naturally he pursued the advantage, clawing for momentum while he aimed his nose at the fleeing Hellcat.

Annie came over the two Eruseans quick and fast, which happened in a way that prevented an organized response. One of the pilots, a less experienced flier, had shot off a burst from his cannon but it missed the F-24. The two pilots, after another few seconds, then began to reverse their turn to once again attack the Osean swing-wing fighter. Saber E1-3 decided to take an extra step to gain the advantage and aimed his gaze at Annie's fighter. The symbols met and he duly followed with the proper button press.

"Saber E1-3, Rapier!" The man called.

Streetfighter's attack, in the meantime, had caught the Raven pilot at a bad time. With still very little energy to use and rapidly diminishing time to get it, all he could do was deploy flares and be ready for the second he got enough energy to maneuver proper. It never came, and with that result Raven E2-3 was hit on the top of the center fuselage.

His wingwoman was unable to help even before the pilot's death was sealed. Her own opponent was wrestling the advantage from her; she didn't even note E2-3 had been shot down at first. For now the two Generation 5 fighters were locked in a turning fight with each either just gaining or losing the advantage only for the status quo to return a second later. Raven E2-4 searched for some way to break the deadlock.

Saber E2-1 wasn't surprised by Hellhound Flight's moves to counter their multi-pronged attack, but he was surprised by how close it happened. He ended up almost nose-to-nose with Hellhound's rookie pilot as the F-25 popped up. It disoriented the man, and left him a sitting duck when Naomi came back down and fired. The pilot was pulling up when the missile impacted. At this range and speed the flares came out to late. The left wing of Saber's Second Element was torn apart and its pieces thrown about, succumbing to gravity in seconds.

His wingwoman got lucky, as she'd flinched away from the confrontation as soon as she'd seen Spikes's Taipan coming up to meet her. The AIM-9 that'd been shot at her would find itself maneuvering against a pilot who was moving evermore swiftly, at a pace that was fast overwhelming its computers. It cost her the advantage, but Saber E2-2 gladly took being out of position behind Spikes as she dove to be better than dead like her lead. The Erusean banked left and moved to intercept the Osean fighter-bomber before it could pull up and bleed off enough energy to bring out its agility again.

At the same time, Saber's latter half took advantage of Otaku and Wolfdog's moves. When the two F-25s maneuvered to meet the, they each shot a single AP-11 each. Then, through some quick coordination, maneuvered so they wouldn't slam into each other as they passed. Each pilot employed flares and E2-3 ducked down while E2-4 went up. E2-3 felt his plane shake a little as Wolfdog's missile wounded him, but that matter was forgotten when he saw another shape approaching: Katana 1-2 to be exact. The Erusean, AP-11s still at the ready, jumped at the chance to nab one of Osea's vaunted "stealth fighters".

"Saber E2-3, Rapier!" The man shouted, almost stumbling over his words.

"Saber Lead this is E3-3...we are unable to reach you..." A nervous voice spoke up soon after.

"What's the problem, E3-3? Report." Saber E1-1 asked.

"Enemy aircraft have intercepted us; will push when we are unengaged."

    "Roger...good luck, Branko."

The Lieutenant Colonel in charge of the air battle over the Nordic city watched the screen with a disapproving look. The push for control of the air was taking too long, even if the Nords and their UN allies were running. He still had 12 Su-43s on station that were heavy with bombs and missiles, and they were starting to run low on fuel. No matter how good the fight on the ground was going, he wanted them on station to keep the situation good. The man looked up, gaze fixed on oe of his immediate subordinates a few rows of controllers down.

"Jussila, I want you to start rotating aircraft to the tankers. Lowest fuel first, understand?" He spoke up. The younger man, a Captain, looked up at him and nodded.

    "Yes sir, immediately."

The order was sent over the airwaves to the strike jets, and six of them were chosen to cycle off and refuel. The unannounced decision was also made to start setting a time for them to be sent back to base and for fresh crews and aircraft to come in. The EIAF only had a fragile footprint as far as in-country bases went; most aircraft were coming from Erusea itself.

There was also the issue of protection, which only piled onto the growing temptation to send back the strikers. Thanks (in a morbid way) to the real-time speed of modern battlefield communications, it'd been revealed that the MD-4 battery detached to the forces on the ground was being attacked again after the radar had been knocked out. No one had a solid idea how many vehicles, and whether they were tracked TELs or reloading trucks, had been hit.

Colonel Vila Tolvanen stood halfway out of her M-87CV command vehicle, positioned with the rest of her command post and a pair of MD-2Cs near a highway service tunnel, camoflagued from immediate attention. They also had a few portable jammers up to further mask their position alongside vehicle defensive systems; Vila wasn't going to be this close to the fight without a solid layer of protection. She was becoming less and less impressed as her armored battalion was struggling to advance into town. The raven-haired woman watched as the Talons of Nier and Nightrider circled overhead, largely unopposed in the initial surprise they'd achieved.

The woman raised her binoculars and looked towards the five remaining MD-2s down the road, which had slowed their advance. Instead of using their AP-2s, the short-range weapon systems reverted to their high-powered lasers. Awe-inspiring things, really; the light blue beams and low bellow added a psychological touch. They could fire on munitions themselves if given good enough conditions, too. She watched several beams reach into the sky, guided by radar as they warmed up.

The first beam went for Nightrider 1-3 as he and his wingman were making their attack on the column nearest her, while a second attacked Nightrider 1-4. Another, spotting Nier's lead jet, fired on the craft as it ascended. Vilia watched as the two Marine jets scrambled, one being hit and almost immediately began trailing flames before the Colonel turned her attention to the third F/A-38 that was being shot at.

As he watched the explosions of the SDBs blossom on his MFD, Shamu said, "4 hits, Sharky."

"Excellent."  Hearing the radio calls of the F/A-38s as they were ambushed by the lasers, as well as seeing the grid coordinates of the hostile artillery pop up on his screen, Sharky radioed, "Three, Four.  Sounds like our Marine friends are having some issues.  See what you can do about those lasers.  we're pushing for the arty now."

    "Four."

Peaches broke from her orbit and turned towards the MD-2s.  "Speedy you got 'em?"

"Roger that.  You're locked.  Fire when ready."

"Serpent Four, Magnum MD-2!"  Peaches squeezed the trigger and another AIM-154 fell from the bay, streaking towards one of the radiating vehicles.  As the missile flew away, she got in range to release a pair of CBU-103s, making sure to stay high and out of the engagement envelope of the shorter ranged lasers.  With the MD-4s out of commission, she could make her run with relative impunity.

At the same time, Shamu radioed, "Two, we're hitting the arty.  On us."

    "Two."

"We've got the left four, you take the right."

    "Two copies."

    "Release in 3... 2... 1..."

The FB-22s reached the point in space their bombing computers said would deliver the SDBs to their targets with the most efficiency, the bomb bays snapped open, and four SDBs fell free from each FB-22.

Once free, the bombs rolled over and deployed their diamondback glide wings, starting up their tiny turbojet engines, propelling themselves towards the artillery pieces, eight in all.

Jed looked back and spotted the CFA as it was speeding up to pursue him. The guy had enough distance to make most any maneuver a moot point at first. Jed's instincts told him to go up with the Erusean diving down. He held off on hsi flares for the moment to start conserving them, and on that note...

    "AI, fuel calculations." He ordered.

"You are five minutes from Bingo Fuel, Lieutenant." the machine replied.

"Roger...Skull Lead to Flight, anyone running low on fuel, say it now and get the hell outta dodge." The man then spoke up.

"AI, fuel calculations...I have about seven minutes to Bingo Fuel, Bronco." Annie spoke up as she reversed and deployed flares.

"Roger that...Skull Lead to Chess, any word on relief? Ah'm reaching Bingo Fuel." Jed radioed.

"Skull Lead this is Chess, we've got Kristall and Stali Flights inbound to reinforce. ETA seven minutes." the AWACS radioed. Fuck, Ah ain't gonna make it that long to say the least.

    "Roger that." Jed called.

In the meantime, Annie kept herself mobile. The one AP-11 after her prompted the pilot to go up and back towards the CFA-44s. She wasn't in a good firing position however, and if she kept doing this she was bound to make herself a target. She went down the time as she passed over the Erusean fighters and turned hard right to get away from the two enemy fighters.

"This is Skull 2-2, I am engaged defensive by two bandits...is anyone able to assist?" She radioed.

"Skull 2-1 is engaged defensive." Jed breathed out.

"Skull 2-3 is engaged defensive." Nathan almost apologized.

"Skull 2-4 is engaged offensive, attempting to clear 2-3's tail." Streetfighter said, the strain from Gs in his voice.

So she was still on her own for now...Annie accepted that. She pulled back and up out of her turn to get above the two Eruseans and either shoot them down or break them up and excape when she hit Bingo Fuel.

"Skull 2-2, this is Katana 1-1, Am engaged offensive but I just fired on this guy...I'll see if I can't come help you in a second." the lead F-28 pilot radioed tersely. He wasn't especially happy since Katana 1-2 had just taken an AP-11 to the face.

His two remaining charges were going to make up for things, though. They'd stunted the minuscule effort the Eruseans had made to try and reinforce the main fight by first breaking up the new pair of CFAs with AIM-120s, and then had closed to attack with AIM-9s. The fight was actually outside the city limits; Katana 1-1 had made sure both pilots knew not to go too far. Down on the deck, meanwhile, Captain Renford felt his forehead tightening.

"Nightrider 1-3 is down...don't see a chute...Nightrider 1-4 is proceeding to the bay to eject." His Number 4 radioed.

"Roger that...AWACS Chess, Nightrider Lead, we've got an aircraft going down over the bay. Request CSAR, how copy?" The man replied.

"Roger that Nightrider, we'll alert Hadley." Chess assured.

Back up North, Streetfighter and Prettyboy finally had a leg up, they both reckoned, on their opponents, now opponent. Rick used his right to swing to turns towards Prettyboy and the Wyvern that he was turning with him.

"Alright Prettyboy, I'm coming." He assured.

Acknowledging the quick "Roger that" Nathan called back, Rick selected his AMRAAMs and let the AI work in automatic to speed up the process. The symbology on his HMD-HUD changed frantically as the representation of the process changed from the AIM-9's setup. Rick sped up and looked around once or twice to keep himself from getting jumped. When he heard the tone, he looked forward and saw the F-24 had locked onto the F-02.

"Skull 2-4, Fox 3!" He called.

"Hellhound Two, Bandit down!" Naomi exclaimed while she maneuvered her plane to support Spikes as the CFA-44 of Sabre E2-2 maneuvered out of the path of Gisele's Sidewinder, the short ranged weapon exploding harmlessly in the air.

"Could use some help here Nomad; keep him off me."

"I'm closing, Spikey select 25mm and give me a trajectory."

"GAU-22 selected, trajectory mapped Nomad." The AI replied as it used the Taipan's radar and FCS to draw a firing arc on the Nosferatu attempting to maneuver on Gisele's six o'clock. Gisele in meantime trailed flares and moved to get out of the way of the maneuvering CFA as Naomi slid into gun range.

"Nomad, Guns!" Naomi said, letting loose two decently sized bursts of 25mm shells.

In the meantime Erich now maneuvered against the attack launched by Sabre's second element, his Chaff/Flare alarms going off once more as the AI pumped flares out to help Wolf Dog beat the AP-11. Erich slid around and noticed the bandit going high while his evading wingman came back around to fire an off boresight missile shot.

"Otaku, Fox Two!" The Rio Verde native called, letting loose his first Sidewinder before slipping back into another series of evasive turns. The damaged CFA that Erich had let go while evading was now being eyeballed by who he believed was his backup in the form of Katana 1-2, that said he kept his weapons at the ready in case it doubled back on him.

    The Dogfight
    November 20, 2045 (Local Time: 1127)
    Northern Fristad

Raven's strength was now down to one jet, at least as far as who was present over Fristad. Raven E2-4 had never heard Ravene E1-3 go down or call out that he was ejecting, mostly because he hadn't been able to make his call. Like more than one pilot over the city, he was going down with his plane. She was too concerned about the fact that the advantage was quickly slipping from her grasp. First the turning fight had been going almost nowhere, and then her RWR told her she had another bandit coming in, identified as a second Hellcat.

The pilot broke from her duel with Nathan and started changing up her thinking so she could take on two jets at once. The pilot went high, deployed chaff, turned into the missile, weaved alongside some more chaff,  snapped away from the AIM-120 to go where it'd be overwhelmed, and turned towards Rick's F-24 as he was approaching. E2-4 was low on missiles (all the AP-11s were gone), but the aircraft's gun still had plenty of rounds to spare. Nonetheless she chose to use an AP-13 first to avoid getting in close. She couldn't waste time trying to gun them when she was outnumbered.

"Raven E2-4, Longbow!" She called before breaking left to come around and engage Nathan.

In the meantime Saber E1-1 pulled back on the stick as he saw Jed's aircraft counteracting his manuver by pulling up. It looked like the Hellcat was going to pull into a loop and go over him. Naturally he'd follow and engage from there. The pilot opted to stay back so he could have a good amount of warning if the Osean pulled anything. He got his chance early as they were ascending, and fired his remaining AP-11.

"Saber E1-1, Rapier...Three, Four, report." He radioed.

"Saber E1-3 and E1-4 are engaged with one bandit offensive...correction two, two bandits." Saber E1-3 outlined quickly, keeping his voice calm and observant the entire time.

"Saber E1-4 is turning to engage." the respective jet called out. The jet had spotted Katana 1-1, who was making his attack from five high.

"All Saber and Raven aircraft be advised, we're pulling back the strike aircraft. We've got new bandits on radar. Heading 185, Altitude 7000, 480 Kilometers and closing." AWACS spoke up.

The comment went to the back of Saber E2-2's mind as she maneuvered to follow Giselle, soon becoming aware of Nomad's approach. The Erusean broke right, abandoning the attack on Spikes and at first thinking it was going to be an AIM-9X, only to find it was the F-25's cannon. The assumption saved her, for the moment, but had Saber E2-2 fast being pinned against the cityscape below as she dove for cover.

Saber E2-4 pulled back on the stick and deployed flares, moving into the missile shot. The problem was the AIM-9 was coming right up at him and he was moving in the horizontal plane of motion as he evaded. He could only move so quickly and deploy flares so fast. Vic's missile caught him as he was bleeding energy, trying to turn back towards Hellhound's Lead and Number Four and engage them.

His lead, despite the damage, started to turn around with Katana 1-2 down and out. As E2-3 went down, though, the pilot reconsidered his options. The best was it was time to bug out. The pilot went from a turn to a nose over, sweeping down and below the fight before heading north towards the skies the Eruseans held fast to.

    Erusean Advance's Eastern Flank
    November 20, 2045 (Local Time: 1131)
    Northern Fristad

The lead elements of the advance had started to move down the nearest offramp with the city's defenders in full retreat. There were still eight operational M-85s, and reinforcements were being ordered up. Colonel Tolvanen looked to her left as the M-98s fired another salvo to harass the retreating Nords. The M-97s were positioning themselves to fire again as well. She looked forward again as two more jets streaked overhead and grimaced. That was going to be the only major problem; the Oseans loved to exploit their air power when they had it. She saw a missile coming in from the distance, another jet further out. It threw itself down towards one of the MD-2s, which met it with it's laser. The explosion could be felt slightly from here, and the vehicles turret started to rotate to find the offended jet.

Then a series of explosions ripples up the highway, engulfing several of the short-range air defense platforms. The Naval Infantry Colonel instinctively hit the ground and held to it as the two CBU-103s exploded across the width and part of the length of the highway. When she looked up, the smoke had quickly come rolling towards them. She looked to her left with a squint and pulled up her goggles as the shapes of M-89 APCs started to roll by. He gaze then went right as she waited for the M-97s to fire again.

The shots didn't come though, not at first. The howitzers had been distracted as they were attacked by Serpents 1 and 2. Their position became obscured in smoke and electronic noise as they started moving. Their APS lasers rotated towards the weapons and tracked them until they were in range, at which point they fired. Most of them worked, too, with the exception of four. Two suffered APS malfunctions, another's failed to properly detect the incoming bomb, and one simply thought they were fine just sitting there amongst all the protective measures. Colt 03 relayed the end results.

"Serpent, Colt here, I see two explosions near all that smoke. Good kills, keep it up."

    OFS Hicks (LHA-9)
    November 20, 2045 (Local Time: 1133)
    40 Miles off of Fristad

Deck crewmen rushed forward as a Nordic UH-62 landed on the ship and the doors came open. any hand available  rushed to pull out wounded, critical or slightly, and get them to the already overwhelmed sick bay and the three makeshift ones in the wardrooms. The LHA's accompanying amphibious ships also found themselves knee-deep in wounded as well, now more military than civilian. The understanding was grim: the soldiers were taking priority. Civvies, if they were being evacuated, were being taken aboard ferries and civilian ships. Troops went aboard the combat ships. There were simply too many people fleeing the Eruseans to get all at once.

    KILLS FOR THIS ROUND

Katana 1-1 has killed an F-02B

    Hellhound 4 has killed a CFA-44C

Serpent 1 has killed two M-97s

    Serpent 2 killed two M-97s

    Serpent 4 killed five MD-2s

The MWS blared in Karhila's face and he violently rolled his big jet into a left turn, chopping power and dispersing with a massive steam of flares. He reversed his roll and let out another string of flares. Lahit grunted against the Gs as she watched the IR guided missiles sail past the big jet. Following the smoke clouds down as they rolled, she looked through the floor via her HMD and spotted the area from which the missiles had come from.

"Haukka 2, put a bomb on the coords I just marked!" she exclaimed.

"Roger, 2 is prosecuting the target!" called the pilot. The bays snapped open and a single SBD fell free. The glide bomb smoothly descended, following its pre-programmed coordinates. It smashed right into the area from which the MANPAds had come from and detonated, shattering the windows of near by buildings with the shockwave.

    ***

"Serpent 3 is clear, pressing launchers" said Riley. The F-02 rolled out level and followed after Peaches jet.

"Serpent 3 is engaging MD-2s near the arty." said Riley. "Chart, get those lasers on the ETOS."

"Roger!" she said. Chart swung the pod onto the target, the lasers that had engaged the bombs dropped by 1 and 2. Noting the coordinates on her knee board, she sent them to the CBUs in the bays of the Wyvern.

"Their ready to go!" she said.

Staying well above the lasers effective range, he pickled off two of the cans of cluster munitions.

"Serpent 3, pickle!" he called non-nonchalantly. Banking into a slight turn, he reached down and slid out a Snickers. Pulling his mask away, he broke off a piece and nibbled on it.

"Hey Chart, want a part of this Snickers?" he asked after swallowing his part.

"Sure, past it on back." said Chart, grinning under her mask. Riley pushed the F-02s nose down, and ten up again "floating" the candy bar back to Chart. Catching it in her gloved hand, she said "Thanks!"

Streetfighter broke down and left and deployed chaff to assist his aircraft's electronic systems in defending against the AP-13. In the meantime Prettyboy grabbed the respite he had and stayed in the turning fight until he had the last F-02 the Eruseans had over the city in his field of view. He armed his last two AIM-152s, and planned to follow up with his AIM-120s. With the AI taking the reins, he hoped he could spam the single fighter and wrap this up. The fight had drawn itself out long enough.

    "Skull 2-3...Fox 3, Fox 3!" He called.

Street threw a glance towards his lead as the two missiles dropped and shot forward. Seconds later he saw two on his wing root pylons go off, accompanied by another pair of calls.

"Skull 2-4, bug out south as soon as you hit Bingo." Natham ordered as he snaked left and then came back to the right to hit the F-02 with a right cross from his gun from behind.

"Roger that." Rick grunted, moving to support his friend. He still had a little fuel left.

Meanwhile Annie took advantage of Katana 1-1's attack and kept up her hard right. She glanced at her fuel gauge and considered if she should at least try and make a snap shot at the two CFAs to help the F-28. Even if it was lauded as one of the best aircraft in the world today, any way to even the odds had to be good. She looked around, trying to see if the two were in a good position for her to throw her nose at them, launch an AIM-9, and then run. She saw one of them going up and decided to go for it.

"Katana 1-1, Skull 2-2, I'm going to take one shot at the bandit going high and then I have to RTB. Almost at Bingo Fuel." She announced as she readied an AIM-9.

The Enforcer pilot, a Major, glanced towards the ascending CFA and nodded.

    "Roger that, Skull 2-2."

Annie hauled the F-24 into a right bank, pointing her nose upwards at the back end of the Nosferatu. The  TD box immediately enevloped it as soon as she'd turned her head towards the CFA, and the AIM-9 having a full view sealed the deal. Annie depressed the button and let out an accented "Fox 2" call before pulling back and aiming her jet southwards, easing into a long bank to exit the fight.

"Skull Lead, this is Skull 2-2...I'm RTB at this time, Bingo Fuel." she radioed. Even then she planned to hit the tanker to make it back to Skalski.

"Roger that, Ah'll be along in a minute..." Jed said pensively.

Katana 1-1 stAyed clear of the AIM-9 as he flew off and went for the other CFA as it broke right and stayed at relatively the same altitude. His won Sidewinder ready as he snaked to the left, then the right and leveled out, the man lowered his F-28 towards the tail of the enemy fighter for his shot.

    "Katana 1-1, Fox 2!"

Unlike his compatriots, though, Jed wasn't in a good position to engage the Nosferatu behind him. He deployed flares at the launch of the AP-11 and yanked it left, going up and rolling back and over to jump for the route to freedom southwards. He kept up the maneuver, grunting against the Gs even as his vision faltered a little here and there. He saw the CFA beneath him as he flew. In his ear a beep started to sound.

"Reaching Bingo Fuel...Reaching Bingo Fuel..." AI intoned.

"Skull 2-1's bugging out...have reached Bingo Fuel." Jed called.

With his and Annie's moves acknowledged by AWACS, Jed completed his move over the CFA and his escape from its AP-11 and  dove towards the harbor area of Fristad. He spotted Nightrider's remnants, who were currently circling to guard their downed friends, and steered clear of the developing rescue mission. He spotted Annie out in the distance and eased towards her.

"Coming in off yer five, Tsun-Tsun." He radioed, lifting up his visor.

The two F-24s settled into formation wordlessly and turned southwest towards the awaiting tankers and their base beyond. Annie looked over at Jed, who nodded politely. She offered a quick smile and looked forward again, aware he wasn't happy. The debriefing was going to be a very awkward one...a very awkward one indeed. Jed was thinking the same thing, and how to maneuver around Annie's pride. Maybe it was high time he brought in Sharky to help on this one...

"Serpent copies.  Reengaging from the east."

The two FB-22s swung around once again, their pilots following the waypoints on the HUD.  As they got in range, they performed the same routine, with each jet dropping another four SDBs.  Once the bombs were free and the bay doors closed, they turned south gracefully.  In the back seat of Night Witch, Shamu quipped, "Ya know, if it wasn't for the fact that there's a massive invasion and evacuation attempt going on, this feels kind of like a training hop."

    "Hmph.  Don't jinx us, bro."

"I'm just saying.  Anyway.  10 guns left.  Accounting for APS bullshit, should be another two runs or so."

"Good, because we'll be Winchester after that."

"Yep.  Still good on fuel though.  Was kinda worried after those SAMs."

"Good thing we managed to get that drag from the tanker."

    "Yeah."

Gisele who was now clear of Sabre E2-2 now gave pursuit, being mindful of the ticking fuel gauge that would at any moment begin to notify her that the F-25A's single F120-138 engine would be strapped for fuel soon if she continued at her current pace. Noting that the enemy aircraft was headed for the deck for safety, she swung out from the left while Naomi instinctively went right to put pressure on the CFA from both sides. Naomi in the meantime noted her own fuel state and radioed.

"Don't let that Bloodsucker get us strung out too far, fuel load is getting light on my end."

"Wilco and noted Two. Let's end this." Gisele said as she pointed her HMD at the Erusean fighter, cueing up her second Sidewinder. "Hellhound Three, Fox Two."

Naomi in the meantime who lagged slightly to let CFA get some distance from her Taipan decided to fire an AIM-120 off, even if it was still close for an AMRAAM she figured it would be enough to force the pilot of the CFA into Gisele's IR guided Sidewinder.

"Nomad, Fox Three." She called, letting the Radar guided AAM race away from her plane. Victor who had confirmed his kill against a Nosferatu now formed on their Lead's six, keeping an eye on the hostile CFA that appeared to be bugging out.

"Two, Three. Watch your fuel guage and don't get too strung out chasing down retreating hostiles. We need to tank and RTB soon."

    "Three copies."

    "Understood Lead."

    The Dogfight
    November 20, 2045 (Local Time : 1135)
    Over Northern Fristad

Saber E2-2 was alone...not totally alone but alone at a time when it was life or death. the pilot pulled up to avoid the city, still mindful of Giselle, and tried to run by going high and fast. Or at least get to the squadron lead.

"E1-1, this is E2-2, may day mayday I am outnumbered and require assistance." the pilot radioed.

"Hang on E2-2, help is on the way." Saber Lead replied.

With half of Skull bugging out, the CFAs could reorganize and consolidate. An optimistic person would say that now they could perhaps turn the tide against the fewer UN fighters, but that person would-be short-sighted. The Yuktobanians were a coming, so reinforcements could only go so far. Saber E1-1 couldn't grab anyone, as Saber E1-3 and E1-4 were already engaged, as were E3-3 and E3-4.

E1-3's time was limited, too. Sandwiched between the F-28 above and the F-24 that'd snuck a shot at him, the pilot decided his best move was to turn over, releasing flares as he did, and dive for the deck for a second to dodge the immediate threat that was the AIM-9. Katana 1-1 decided to pile on the factors by shooting off an AIM-9 as well. Saber E1-3 was forced to turn back towards where Annie had once been a few seconds ago, and met her Sidewinder as it landed its single blow against the rear of the fuselage.

Hunter E3-3 and E3-4 weren't able to help either, and in fact were given the order to help cover the retreating Su-43s as soon as they could free themselves. E3-4 had traced  a line of cannon shots across Katana 1-3, making the jet look like some "battle scared" children's toy. The F-28 snapped its nose back and ascended to get above the CFA-44 before it could get off more rounds. Its wingman was ascending, running while Katana 1-4 nosed up to give chase.

Saber E2-2, by now, had been feeling a little confident she could get away and escape. She was slowly losing the AIM-9, edging into a space where the missile would be overwhelmed and unable to go. Then Nomad shot off her AIM-120; E2-2 hastily deployed chaff and started to maneuver again, and like Saber E1-3 before her was pushed right into the AIM-9 that'd been shot at her in the first place. The blast of fragments centered around the back half of the canopy.

Raven E2-4 could only wish she'd lasted that long. Streetfighter beat her by sheer overwhelming force; there wasn't enough chaff that could be shot off in time to fool that many missiles, especially as they hit the upper reaches of their speed. The one that hit, the third shot, scrapped the Wyvern's left engine intake and ripped away a good back third of the fighter, sending the rest arcing across the sky in flames.

    Karkinos 4-2
    November 20, 2045 (Local Time: 1135)
    Northern Fristad

Junoven flinched and then pressed himself up against the nearest building as an explosion erupted somewhere down the street. The man looked back to see an explosion billowing up where much of his platoon had been just a short time ago. At the edge of the violent event, he could see the charred bodies of some of his men. The infantry Lieutenant looked up and waited for something to shoot at the offending aircraft, and saw four AP-2s light off and away from a pair of surviving MD-2s along the highway. Looking forward again, the man saw an M-85 swing onto the route they were taking, followed by another. Satisfied they had reinforcements, the man keyed up his radio.

"Karkinos 4-2, hold and establish defensive positions! Start retrieving the wounded and set up and aid station!" He barked.

Under a chorus of "yes sirs" from his squad leaders, the unit began to disperse and reorganize to turn half a block into its own little base camp for the time being. In the meantime the mechanized elements of the 2nd Marine Legion took up the advance. About that time another set of CBUs exploded along the highway, enveloping the advance in another cloak of explosions and black, oily smoke.

    Erusean Artillery Positions
    November 20, 2045 (1138)
    Outskirts of Northern Fristad

The Erusean battery commander for the M-97s was growing increasingly frustrated. The advance into the city was in full swing but they were being denied any chance to do a single thing. He didn't even flinch as his APS broke apart another incoming SBD and sent its white-hot fragments bouncing across the hull and turret of the machine. His guns were heading into the city to move up with the advance and they were being promised reinforcements to ensure they were back at full strength. He was going to need five howitzers to get his force back up to full strength. The second battery had been reduced to two guns if the systems at his station were telling him things accurately and the third was about gone.

Menawhile the MLRS battery, what was left of it, was withdrawing for now. They couldn't do much in the city anyways. The battery commander listened as his platform's cousins displaced against another volley of bombs, losing another two as they pushed down a road along the side of the hill. The others kept moving while the M-97s went down the slope straight into the cityscape, where there was some decent cover in the form of buildings and plenty of men with AP-2s.

    Stali Flight
    November 20, 2045 (Local Time: 1140)
    Over the Spring Sea

Major Vasali Sokov always kept a tight formation when it came to his fourships in the 473rd Fighter Aviation Regiment. The MiG-44s, called "Flatpack" by Osea, screamed north towards the dissipating fight over Fristad. Vasali himself had already taken down four jets in the chaos-filled days, and he was looking to cross into the realm of ace without much resistance.

They had two flights of the MiG-44 and the same number in Su-50s to take up the CAP, plus two of Su-42s and one more of MiGs to get to interdicting the Eruseans' advance. The CAP was pressing at 23,000 feet while the attackers stayed low at 11,000. Vasali looked down at his radar and saw the contacts swirling and circling against each other. He felt his body tense; it seemed like he might make it at the very end.

"AWACS Chess, this is Stali Lead, be advised we are approaching airspace to relieve Hellhound, Katana and Skull." He radioed. Several other flights followed suit.

"Roger that Stali, proceed north on current heading. Be advised we have no new bandit groups inbound at this time." the E-9 relayed. The controller switched frequencies.

"Roger that...all CAP aircraft be advised, Stali Flight is inbound with Kristall and Medved. Be heads up for radar contacts due south...Haukka, Nier, Serpent stand by to pass datalinks to Molnia and Gorizont Flights."

    KILLS FOR THIS ROUND

    Skull 2-2 has killed a CFA-44C

Skull 2-3 has killed an F-02B

    Hellhound 3 has killed a CFA-44C

Serpent 1 has killed four M-97s

Serpent 2 has killed two M-98s

Serpent 4 has killed six M-89s and three MD-2s

    "Warning, high heat signature incoming-"

    "Rapture, what-"

The laser streamed by the F/A-38, and Cerus no longer needed to wonder what exactly the high heat signature was. There was no physical projectile; just moments before Night Rider 1-3 and 1-4 were tagged by the high-energy beam, they had tried to relay the warning that the Eruseans had fielded laser defense artillery against low-flying aircraft. Unfortunately for them, the warning didn't come in time for them to take proper countermeasures. Cerus dropped the nose of the Talon back towards the earth and attempted to bring it around, the intense movement as he tried to maneuver out of the laser's line of sight shaking him around around the cockpit as the almost instantaneous g-forces crammed him into his seat. He pushed the throttle forward a bit more, looking down at his radar to see what had happened in the time he had spent looking for the SAMs.

The armor column of M-85s and supporting equipment was utterly trashed. What Night Rider had accomplished, Serpent had simply come from behind and added their ordinance to the fray, the laser emitter artillery quickly being destroyed before the howitzers followed soon after with the fury of the FB-22s' strike package. Thick, oily smoke and infernos burned across the entire highway, and he could see the Eruseans attempting to move whatever vehicles were left out of the area and off to safety. Whatever threat there was of directed energy weapon was gone now, and so he breathed a sigh of relief. Leveling out and looking at his MFDs, he addressed the AI to assess any damage. "Rapture, did that beam do any lasting damage?"

It beeped softly, the MFDs cropping up with a quick rundown of the plane's systems. "No sir, all systems are green. Minor surface damage may have occurred; stealth aspects may have been compromised."

"That's much better than I expected."

Noel's voice crossed over the comms as he finished his status report, a little bit of worry present in her voice considering that she watched him nearly get snagged by one of the few things that she probably feared over anything else. Laser weapons were deadly, highly accurate with almost no delay between firing and impact. If they had a tracking system that was really good, say an actual permanent station, he might've been dead. "Templar! What's your status? Nightrider 1-3 and 1-4 are down. Serpent just plowed the columns a bit more and took out most of the artillery. Are you still active?"

He chuckled a little. It was at the most crucial of times that Noel's joking manner disappeared and her serious side came to light. For them being partners for so long, it meant that playtime was over and time to go to work. "All systems are green, Berserker. Some of the stealth might have been shaved off by the intense heat, but Rapture can't detect anything for now. I'm getting more ground contacts on radar-is there another armor group coming up?"

The redhead quickly looked back to her own sensors and had the EOTS zoom out so she could get a better look at the surroundings. Sure enough, whatever remnants of the Eruseans' first column were moving off of the highway and into the city, making their job a bit harder. However, a fresh new group of armor was appearing, and though the lanes were blocked fairly well by the corpses of destroyed vehicles, the tanks would surely be able to push through and move aside most of the lighter carcasses for the rest of their support to go through. She bit her lip a little. Nier had plenty of fuel to go around for now, since they hadn't been burning it up as much pulling maneuvers like Skull team. They had plenty of Brimstones left between the two of them. Utilizing them to maximum effect and saturating the armor column with the deadly munitions would mean that at the very least, they'd take out a number of tanks and armored vehicles while stalling the column and allowing them to tag the armor that was making camp in the city. "Yeah, there's quite a lot of it. I'm not sure if Serpent's coming around for another run, but with Nightrider out, we're the ones carrying the torch."

"Copy. I'll form up on your wing and we'll go to town on the incoming armor, weapons free."

    She nodded firmly. "Yes sir."

It didn't take long after that for Cerus' Talon to form up on her seven o'clock, the pair of them forming up at the 2nd Marine Legion's 12 o'clock. Arming their Brimstones once more, they targeted the first units in the column, the lock tones humming eagerly in their headsets. The first of the black daggers erupted in a flash of smoke and fire belching out the rocket motor end, the seekers hungry for the delicious topsides of the Erusean tanks as they approached. Another two targets selected, and the pair launched again, two more of the anti-tank munitions screaming off of their launch rails towards their intended targets.

    "Nier 1, ripple Rifle!"

    "Nier 2, ripple Rifle!"
